WTF. Last swell saw the jetty in CB firing only to be ruined by a bunch of kooks riding SUP's. Hogging all the set waves and doing NOTHING on them. I guess getting within 10 feet of a barrel counts as getting tubed on an SUP. Barely doing a functional turn is ripping? What a joke. Why paddle out on those tanks and hog the most critical peak and then do NOTHING? They have ruined my favorite break, and will soon be making an appearance at yours.

I have only one question for you tri-athlete forty somethings on SUP's. What's more queer, your pink unitard, rollerblades, zumba classes, or your SUP?

I surf there all the time and I have never had a problem with the SUP crew. There all cool and actually spot the sets way out and let me take them. A positive attitude is essential any where you surf.

I'm 40 something and just purchased a 6'1. Between that and my fish I've logged 8 hours in the last 3 days. Guess I should've checked the inbox for the turn 40 buy a boat memo.

Everybody jumping on the guy for his obvious ignorance, but the kicker in the fine print is the fact that CB has NO JETTIES much less a jetty on the North End. HA!

btw, best swell I have ever surfed on Pleasure Island ever on Sunday. Only time I stepped foot on CB was to eat a fresh Mahi sandwich at Surf House.

You have obviously never rode a SUP, Stop *****ing about it. If you don't like where they're at go down the beach some.

SUPers unite! Us yuppies have evolved into a lean, mean, carbon fiber sweeping machine! We must destroy the prone surfer with our collective floating might! We are taking over, set by set, peak by peak. If you can't afford the high price of evolution, get out of our way. We have every right to conquer you. Go cry in your spilled milk and leave the line-ups to us haggard old, sun hat wearing, shorts over wetsuit styling, squat thrusting, Croakies on Oakly's, extreme over the hill athletes who love including SUP to our adventure repotoire... like kayaking and cross word puzzles! Old dogs rule! See you at the north end jetty.?.

I don't know...I surfed there Sunday and had no problem getting waves, set or otherwise. Maybe you aren't out there as often as you think CB Surf Guy. Guys know each other out there. Prolly like you know your own regular spot. Go back there.

I'm pretty sure that the groin north of the pier doesn't count as a jetty

Never had a problem with the SUPers at CB. I'm ancient. I'd own an stand up paddle board for flat days to stay in shape so I look good in my pink unitard; if I had a place to store it. Getting an 8'6" up and down three flights of stairs and storing it in a one bedroom condo along with my sons' boards is tough enough. Erock, Surf House gives Paddle board lessons AND serves good eats. Actually I'm looking for a Mini Simmons for days when I'm too weak to to carry a long board to the beach.

i agree with the punk kid or whatever. truth is the SUP is a huge shortcut to being able to get into waves and being able to surf something you havn't put the time in for if you were paddling. and you guys have no etiquette. absolutely no etiquette. it is certainly not all about "stoke." thats the problem with kooks. you guys think its all "cool" because everyone is just a laid back surfer. no no no. for the most part we are all agro and if you tried that **** in other places in the world you would find yourself with a busted face and a broken board. the bigger problem is that no one calls you out for it. you guys sit outside wait for the biggest sets, try your best to navigate your kookass through the lineup as everyone grumbles and dodges your death trap. its about time for some people to tell you to take your small watercraft back to the beach or sweep yourself down the beach. you guys aren't surfers and your so far from being a waterman you have no clue. you guys are like sponges. but at least sponges know how to pull into the pit. you're dangerous and you don't even realize it. if you see a crowd take you damn boat somewhere else before you kill someone with it. or better yet. LEARN HOW TO SURF THE RIGHT WAY. yeah ..>THE RIGHT WAY. stab and dodge..stab and dodge.

Well put brother. SUP's certainly have a place. In the middle of a pack of surfers on a good peak is not it.

Havanasand, My post in no way was an insult to older surfers. In fact, I have mad respect for older guys in the line up. Hope to be surfing when I am 40, 50, 60 and beyond..........
Actually, you guys should be even more pissed. You evidently have spent years of surfing, learning the ropes, and, being respectful. Only to be constantly paddled around by some kook who either couldn't surf so he bought an sup or saw cameron diaz in people magazine on an SUP and figured idf she can I can. It's the SUP's whether ridden by old or young guys in lineups that create the problems for surfers young and old in crowded lineups.

CB surf guy is selling me on his position.... I know Laird Hamilton rides them and he can kill most humans, but I think SUPs look stupid and are dangerous to those of us young and old on our surfboards. I guess they are good for staying in shape, but what is wrong with old fashioned swimming when it is flat or running and lifting weights? Bottom line, if you can't control your SUP or your surfboard, stay away from crowded lineups please.

Exactly how were "kooks" able to 'hog set waves' from you?

doesnt really matter what you ride a wave hog is a wave hog and a kooks a kook. I can catch waves just as easy on a longboard as i can on a sup. sups are great on small mushy days when i wouldnt paddle out on a shortboard. Should they be in a crowded lineup when its firing, probably not.
