So, i finally got a chance to get out over the weekend...thank god, 'cause I was going apesh%t! Problem is, there was so much traffic and congestion from all the lovely vacationers that i had to park really far away and walk to the beach. Unfortunately, I didn't think about the consequences of walking on steaming hot pavement and by the time i paddled out i could feel the huge blisters forming on my feet. The walk back after surfing was incredibly painful. My question is....has anyone else done this b4?(i have had this happen before, but not quite to this extent) & if so, how did you treat the blisters? Did you pop them and drain them or let them pop naturally by themselves. Really amped to get on this swell at the end of the week, and trying to figure out the fastest way to heal. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -JJ
No dude, under no circumstances should pop the blisters. They could become infected. Yes I have done that before. Give it a week or two and you should be fine. I learned my lesson the hard way at a no name spot somewhere between avon and buxton, august, middle of the day, tried to make a run for it. I started carrying old beater socks, they do a pretty good job even on pavement, and if they are stolen, yes I have had some stolen, saw they guy wearing them in the parking lot of the lighthouse, you don't care cause they were beaters. And to show you how easy it is for the feet to get infected;
Has anyone else done this b4? The real ? is you have done this before soooooooooooo why in hell did you do it again?????? You have to pop the blisters or it will just get worse. Soak them in epsom salt to help dry the blisters up. Soak them every night till the exposed skin is no longer painful to the touch. If you have to get around put some antibiotic ointment on your blisters and wrap with some gauze to keep them clean. Make sure the hole you put in the blister is large enough to let the fluid out, the epsom salt in and to where the blister doesnt reseal. Pin hole isnt sufficient. The bill is the mail and change your name to Kooki Barrels........and NO ive never done that before........If you listen to FE it wont do you any good......The advice I'm giving comes from someone in the medical field. You always clean and remove burned skin from your body. The blisters you have are second degree burns but hey......they're your feet do what you want to with them.
Koki, the smell of burning flesh and smoke coming from your pigs should have given you a sign..... Your feet are not so strong Grasshopper
I've had that happen a few times... sucks. Until the blisters fade it's like you're walking on tennis balls. But then your good for the rest of the summer!
Happens to me..I mean after winter my tootsies get alil soft Sometimes its worth it to burn em for some nice times though I just popped mine and let the skin dry out then take my time picking bits off day by day and letting the new skin time to toughen up. Now I try to remember to bring my socks made from wetsuit material, jus stuff them in my side pocket when I get out.
haha...that is great! thanks for the input, fellas....guess I'm just going to let 'em run their course. I've been taking Aleve and rubbing Solarcane on them...could do without that "core" homeboy waverider calling me kooki, but it's to be expected...karma's a *****! Def throwing an old pair of socks in my truck, so this doesn't happen again.
When I travel, and don't want to risk losing my $50 sandals, I'll bring along a cheapo pair... Then walk to the beach in those, and leave them up on the beach somewhere and hope they are there when you get back.
LOL........She got me....... Hit something in the water and blew out a rail on a brand new stick.......
that is brilliant. but what kind of sandals are worth $50? are they the new jordans, yo, with the toes cut out?
