I will be going to Costa Rica with my family soon and unfortunately have to surf alone.I been reading alot about different spots and on wannasurf and noticed a lot of comments about large crocodiles being in the line ups (especially river-mouths).Has anyone ever been/ had any trouble with crocs. damn they scare me

you basically know everything you need to know. They hang out in the rivers. They sometimes end up in rivermouths. Surfing near a rivermouth after a rain is 1. gross 2. stupid and 3. a great time / place to spot a croc. I have been alone and surfed river mouths alone but knowing the risk is half the battle the rest is on you. I'm not about to miss some waves because there could be a croc. I'd be more worried about getting my passport stolen by the human predator type near the airport than being eaten by anything. Oh yeah, watch out for the yellow snake, fur de lance, thing is deadly disturbingly common especially in the dry coastal regions like tamarindo / avallanas. Watch out for prostitutes on the dance floor. Watch out for the sunburn. Watch out for da rocks, etc.

If you get a chance to surf Ollie's Pt without 400 other people you might see one or two if you decide to go exploring past the water.

personally I don't like 'em but my wife bought a few for the kids and they wear em all the time- when they get filthy you can just wash them in the sink.

they are everywhere, but I wouldn't worry....I was sitting waiting for a wave at Grande and one swam up to me and struck up a conversation, we ended up going out for a drink and I can tell you crocs are cool creatures dude, I was tryin to kick it to this dancehall prostitute and my main homeslice mr. croc just stole my thunder, next thing I knew he was gettin a room with the ho. He came back 'bout a half n hour later and said bro that chicks coochie smells like the Tamarindo sewege pipe. He said his goodbyes and went back to the rivermouth. He's the one with the bowtie on!

Be sure to hide your crocs after walking down the beach. Petty crime is horrendous in Costa Rica. And the sand becomes super hot middle of the day... you will want your crocs.
