Zman... I wasnt there, didnt see it with my own eyes... but you didnt have 5 foot waves where you were.
Don't wanna fight but how could you tell me there wasn't 5 foot waves when you didn't see it with your own eyes and I was out there in the water
In WW it was playful and you could shortboard it but it was more like knee to thigh. if you want to get super technical it could have been 5 foot FACES from top to bottom. But I do admire your stoke.
This is atrocious, worst week for surfing. I don't mean to complain, but I had lots of free time this week too, with the holiday and all. It seemed like only the SUPs were having fun, tbh it made me want to get one.
Probably has something to do with the buoy reading 2 feet at 6 seconds, which barely translates into a knee high wave.
Get one man, you won't regret it. One of the best gifts i've ever received. Sunday could be fun, i'll probably check out the inlet. I always bring both my prone boards and my SUP, that way you can't go wrong no matter the conditions.
Kman, Pumpmaster is right.most would call those nice little bumps yesterday knee-thigh or 2+ foot. Your not wrong, its subjective but noboby would call those waves yesterday more than 3 foot.
well besides jinxing the swell early, i went ahead and jinxed it even more by buying a new board. i picked up a 6'0 firewire sweet potato...holy fun. thing catches everything even during this occ knee high 2.6ft at 6 sec crap. reguardless of it not being hand made, i recommend this board to anyone.
I am 6'3 and right around 210-215. you can catch waves that a longboard would, but you will always get beat by a longboarder plain and simple. so if you are curious about the board, i would not expect to be beating longboarders into waves anytime soon. very fun and very fast. Looks like wednesday we will get some knee to waist slop and i can give you a better review minus this ankle to knee crap.
you're just a bit taller and heavier then me, so this would be a useful review! let me know how you make out on the next slop session...
because the forecast and the data from the buoys in your area strongly disagree.. because I checked all the cams that day, including a few very close to wildwood, and didn't see anything more then a 2ft bump at most.. And just simply put.... because you are a liar :/
A buddy of mine has a 5'6" Sweet Potato--it's fun as hell to ride on anything that resembles a breaking wave, plus you can throw it around pretty easily at that length. I'm 6'3" 175 and could catch anything similar to what I deem catchable on a longboard. super fish, that 6'0" must float you like a boat but I imagine it will turn pretty easy still. Please remember to post up what you thought about it after you manage to surf it on some "rideable" (using the term loosely, meaning better than the current nothingness) waves
will do erock. i think the difference in 30 lbs makes a difference. I could probably drop down to the 5'10 but i wanted the extra float for the winter time, and plus I'm a fan of extra foam. I'm still getting used to the board since I pretty much have been exclusively riding longboards. Looks like around wednesday we should get some chop to around waist high. but if you look at magicseaweed, they have been consistantly forecasting saturday or sunday with some decent sized medium period SE swell starting to fill in!!!!!!!!!!! So keep yer eyes peeeled!
Ordered one through Outer banks boarding company, but Firewire keeps losing the board I ordered so I have been going out on a beater board with a single fin. The beater is also a fun board for these gloomy days. I been having a blast on some knee high waves doing cheater fives. The only bad side is that people dont take you seriously with a beater board :/
