We are thinking now that we might want to spend our first week in Bali, getting adjusted to time, get some paddling in, and get some tan on so we don't burn while being on a boat for a week and a half. So second part of the trip on the boat.
Again, anyone have other charters they recommend besides Wavehunters like the two other guys? there seems to be a bunch of them, all hovering around 2800-3300 for the 10-12 days

Hey, I lived in Morocco for two years. There is lots of fun surf but there would not be much running wild unless you stay in the cities. Also, to fly from Mor. to SA is extremely expensive. Remember, Morocco is a Islamist country, they want hesitate to make you pay if you run wild outside of appropriate areas. If you want any info feel free to drop me a line.

    photos and our trip

I went a few years ago - here's some info

We flew Malaysia Air to Sweden then to Kuala Lumpur. The way the charter and flights worked out, we had a three day layover. KL is a really cool city, they speak English and there's a ton of culture, stuff to see and a crazy party scene with no Americans. Just watch out for the lady boys. Being in KL was a great way to work through the jet lag.

From there we flew Asia Air to Padang where they picked us up and took us to the harbor. Once you're on the boat all you have to do is surf...

a friend of mine booked the trip directly through the charter boat captain - he'd gone previously and had all the info to do it that way. we made all the flight and hotel reservations ourselves online. it'd probably be way easier to to just go through wavehunters if you've never done this before.

I think we've narrowed it down to mentawais boat trip and some time in bali. Choosing the charter is next on the list.
For those of you who have done it, how did you go about filling your boat...theres only 2-4 of us going, and most boats require at least 8 to sail. So...did you just let the charter fill up?

If anyone is interested in this trip, let Sandbar18 or me know. Obviously we'd like to meet your before going on the trip, but I think we would like to get a full boat. We are going to bali for a couple days first (probably march 29-3rd) then boat trip in mentawais (april 4-14).
