Who the **** cares what people wear? People wear **** for so many different reasons, and if they like wearing what they do, why should I judge them? It's not my preference to still be in a steamer, but I can tell you that unless it gets insanely hot I always wear a neoprene vest in the water because it helps my ribs to not get so sore from the pressure points the board causes. I think the chafe thing is a valid point, although I don't really see why wetsuit pants wouldn't achieve the same thing. Maybe somebody should make pants from a rash-guard type material? I don't know. I don't really care. It doesn't bother me what other people wear and it honestly confuses me why you care.

Who ****ing cares? You deal with it. If they're hogging waves, then talk to them calmly about it. If they don't stop, move to a new peak so it doesn't ruin your session. You're from long island. I am too . . . the breaks are almost all scattered bars except for jetties, which there are usually multiple of . . . just move to a new peak.

It's the same story with everybody. Everyone gets jealous when somebody's getting more waves than them because of the craft they're riding. Shortboarders and longboarders resent SUPers, shortboarders also resent longboarders, and there's always that idiot with the semi-gun ditzing around in knee-high slop who probably hates everyone.

As long as you don't take all the waves and leave none for people on the inside, it's chill. You reap the benefits or take the hits of the type of craft you choose. I was out this morning and I brought both a classic longboard and a 7'0" single fin. I got some fast and steep drops on the shorty and some long smooth rides all the way across the beach on the longboard.

There are good and bad things to all types of craft and if you decide to ride a shortboard you're gonna be making drops later than everyone else, plain and simple. Deal with that or get out of the water.

That's funny because you should read my original post. My grammar is just fine. Its called typing very fast because I could care less about spelling and grammar over a forum post on swellinfo. Am I writing to someone? A report? No. May I remind you this is a forum. using spelling to try and belittle me is the best you can do?

Damn Erock you have had some freaking funny posts today my man:D I to hate meatballs.

LiLefts you need to chill out about what others are wearing and riding and just have fun. Nothing wrong with being young, dumb and full of cum (my fav Point Break quote) but chill out on the folks who work 9-5 and help support the economy that allows folks to pay your young self to "bust your ass 3 days a week" cutting grass to support your surf skate habit. When I was your age (14 or so I'm guessing) I cut grass 5 days a week, by 16 I worked construction on a road crew in 100 degree days.

Don't come on here *****ing about what people are wearing and not expect to flamed. Yes some people like to wear suits even after it is warm and others trunk it in March but at the end of the day does it really matter what they are wearing if they are enjoying themselves? As for SUP's as long as they are sharing I have no problem with them. What ever craft you use to ride waves you must be respectful of your fellow surfers no matter what they ride.

you people need to chill out. I was looking for an answer to why people do this. You guys honestly cant sit there and say that if you saw someone wearing a wetsuit in really warm water you would not think to yourself "What is this guy doing" It was a rant.. i stated that in the beginning...... apparently im the only person here who finds this a little bizarre. People probably rant about tons of stuff on this forum.... the thing about the SUP was not supposed to be brought up until the internet badazz says "cool story bro" I think its accurate to say that unless you SUP you don't like SUPs in the water plain and simple. I respect loggers and everyone out there. yes but SUPs give you an instant wave hog. Im not mad that there getting alot of waves. there are tons of people out there who get more waves than me.... im complaining that they don't have to work to get those waves and its easy. purposely sit further out so you eliminate all of the competition and start running people over. generally the more skilled surfers get more waves(thats how it should be) This does not apply to SUP at all. Whether I was complaining or not you can not just start ripping on someone when they bring up solid points.... it is bizarre how finicky people are with wetsuits its annoying. Generally when people do stupid things spectators will be annoyed.... i was ranting about it. so what? I get annoyed to see when the water temps are 70+ in other places the same people that would wear a 3/2 in new york wouldn't wear a 3/2 in florida when its the same water temp... it makes no sense what I saw today and I feel the need to get some explination to why this occurs.... This thread was a little of being annoyed and just thinking why? Im a happy person in the lineup respectful and everything it was after the session I was starting to wonder why? thats why I created this post..... not to mention there have been plenty more stupid stuff put up like this..... for example urinating in wetsuits? bet theres been a post about that. but who cares right? it may sound negative but that's how a feel about the matter. Then you have the mr. I dont care.... let me ask you this if I was out there in a 5/4 your gonna tell me you wouldnt even notice me and/or care about me wearing it... of course you would..... the whole thing is pointless. so please I voiced what I think and that is that.. don't hate on me for it.... and and BTW i typed this thing very fast... if I used correct grammar it would take me much longer and its not worth it due to the lack of importance of this thread

The explanation you are seeking as to why people wear different suits in the same water/air temp is the same reason people eat different foods, have different haircuts and drive different cars, we are all different and this is not Catholic school where we all have to wear the same uniform. As for SUP's comment I think it was directed more to the fact that your post started by saying this is a rant then you typed a thesis on your point. If you had just wondered out loud about why people wear wetsuits in warmer water you might have gotten a different response.

I was surfing in late May when the water temp was around 60, and people were out there with 5/4s with hoods on. Just figured some people probably prefer to wait it out with whatever suit can handle the coldest temps around here instead of buying all new rubber to use in spring. It didn't bother me. I don't understand why this is almost a moral issue for you. It would be more unusual for someone to do it now and I can't think of a reason anyone would, but it really doesn't bother me if they do.

Like people don't wear wetsuits in Florida? LMAO i see people surfing south beach in em all the time. If you don't like seeing it leave, more waves for the rest of us. Go mow your lawns and buy a SUP

ok, here's an attempt at an explanation:

    1. Some people just like wearing a wetsuit.
    2. Some people like to wear a suit in summer cause they think it makes them look cool.
    3. Some people have wetsuit sponsors and need to show the logo in the water.
    4. Some people have very low tolerance to cold.
    5. Some people just don't know any better and went to the local shop, bought a board and suit cause a clerk told them to so they wear it in the water.

I saw a kid wearing a 3/2 in the line up yesterday, around 10am. The water is at 80. I thought maybe he had Vitiligo or something.

Bingo, starting a thread with "here's my rant" usually gets this reaction, nobody likes "rants", but a simple discussion about this well documented topic would be welcomed by most.

You're too lazy to use correct spelling/grammar and you consider working 3 days a week "busting your a$$." With that kind of work eithic, I'm sure you'll go far in life, LIlefts.
