bout to settle in the woods of maine for some nature-loving goodness. any advice on surf scene, making a living, and swell spots/conditions? Any info is helpful, god bless.
Don't forget your favorite Phish CD & most importantly, your bowl. After all, cups are too small for cereal. Enjoy the peace and quiet in ME.
maine surf No weirdo's closing the beach up here.Cold and uncrowded lineups. York county coast is the sweet spot. Local surf shops are nice and friendly and will hook your knowledge base up.
Maine is beautiful. Great decision (unless you love big cities). Southern Maine does have a decent amount of breaks that seem to pick up swells that miss non cape cod MA and NH. I also imagine that there are numerous surf break as you go farther north. Its just not many people live up that way so I bet there are few people exploring and even fewer publicizing them. I look at it as an untapped wealth of potential....or it could be jagged coastline with nothing ride able. Definitely worth an expedition to find out though.
Surf ME! There is great surf in Maine and hardly anyone in the water to take advantage of it! You'll definitely want to have a range of wetsuits though. And if you can manage to pick up a boat or even just a kayak, I highly recommend it. There are lots of islands along the coast line to explore, some with nice breaks that you can't see from the shore. Throw your board in the boat or tow it along behind the kayak and you'll be able find your personal slice of paradise! There's a shop that opened I think just a few months ago called Black Point Surf Shop. It's kinda small but they shape boards in house and have a pretty selection of gear. These guys have some good info on local breaks too. After my trip to Maine, I have seriously considered living there. Just don't know if I could handle the long winters. Let us know how it works out for you. I will come asking you where to go on my next trip!
One day, after my lifelong road trip is over, I plan to do the same thing. Like mbs said, go explore, there is a ****load of different little coves and points allllll over the place. enjoy yourself
