lol you coulda realized i was just playing and yes monMOUTH county born and raised best county for waves in NJ
Heres some advice and use it for your own sake! WOW I must say to make a post like this says you don't have any common sense to the world of surfing. To do this is just NO NO, even I know that and I used to surf back in the day where there was NO NET around. You want to surf at the inlets to LEARN? OMG are you asking for a death wish? Even I would never go to the INLETS to LEARN or RE-LEARN for that matter and your not going to paddle out at places like that in the middle of the line up with a warm welcome. I'm sorry but that's more like an invasion to the "locals" and disrespect, before you even attempt a stunt like that you need to learn the rules out in the water 1. Learners should position themselves ethier far right or left of the line up AWAY from the crowd. Give yourself and them breathing room since your going to fall off most of the time and you may end up ruining someones line being too close in with the crowd 2. Just like crossing a road look BOTH ways before dropping in but usually the person dropping closest to the lip (that's the peeling/breaking part of the wave) has the right of way and when you SEE that BACK THE FUK OFF and just wait for the next set to come through That's cool you want to learn but even after a 10 year hiatus from surfing I WOULD NEVER DO WHAT YOU JUST STATED. Obviously you don't know there are rules and etiquette to follow in surfing If I were you I would look for days that are mushy and sloping waves (ie high tide) to learn as that will give you a bit more time to learn to BALANCE and how to stand up. Don't think your going to learn on 4-6' hollow steep waves as most times you will be slammed for trying. You do want to start small and then once you have a feel for it work your way up. It will take A LOT of time and practice to learn to stand and ride the line it let alone trying any tricks All you guys I do feel and understand your sentiments exactly but instead of ragging on the guy it would have been easier to explain the rules and he has his warning of what NOT to do in the water. I guess most do not know rules do exist that are just starting out, that's why most would get PO for being cut off or dropped in on by a newbie or a tourist. Oh boy do I ever remember being dropped in or cut off by people that don't know how to do anything and would make me so irritated..... Oh yeah one more thing, while I know its important to have that territorial attitude of a "hardcore local" at your break please keep in mind that in life you may one day NOT BE ABLE to be an everyday (vero beach/sebastian inlet fla for myself) surfer for whatever reason. It used to be MY LIFE everyday but for reasons of living and a job I could no longer do it and live there, then health problems from smoking ciggs and weed just sealed it making me short winded from really even trying to go back. I've finally after 12 years quit that crap and I think I may try to give it another run for a few days to attempt to relearn before the summers out. Its not something you can erase that 'feeling' of but when you stop for awhile your ability is almost gone. So I'm just saying don't take it for granted while your able to rip, shred and tuck into a barrel now ONE DAY you might have to STOP for a long time and THEN you will be the quote and unquote "kook newbie" when time permits you to start again. So love it, enjoy it, and feel it but don't ever take it for granted cause life does have a way of changing and not so you can continue to be that surfer you used to be. Well I hope to get a chance to try out some 2-3' fun rideable's before the hurricane swells start up (yeah I know most of you are really lookin forward to those days
