Thank you very much, I love Tumblr (other than the whole reblog thing - I don't reblog, my page is all my work) because of the simple layout and the fact you can display at full rez... I don't use flickr actually..
*bump* c'mon people post your links... this could be a great 'bored at work' thread to reference, and everyone on the coast is about to get real bored at work...
www.surfhale.com Put a fin through my foot a year ago, so I bought some equipment started shooting....still learning and gaining experience, but plan is to always be free...too many $25/shots sites out there. _____ Canon 7D; Essex Housing w/ EF 17-40L, EF-S 15-85, EF 400L Prime
Hey steelwave, those are some nice HDR shots. Have always wanted to try some but don't have the right editing software or skill at this point... here is my flickr, amateur at best but I like taking pics on trips etc. http://www.flickr.com/photos/nesurfer/
are you kidding me... those shots on your flickr are amazing... great colors and perspectives... HDR is easy, if your camera can bracket (even if it doesn't it's not too hard).. just set it to bracket (I usually shoot 5 or 3 shots, seperated by .07 EV). Hold the camera superstill, or set it on something or use a tripod. You basically need at least 3 shots to blend, one overexposed, one with correct exposure, and one underexposed. The software I use is Photomatix, you can download a trial version for free to see if you like it, just google it. Once in Photomatix its very simple, you just load the bracketed shots and let the program tone map them. Once blended just use the sliders to mix to your liking.
those pictures are incredible. there are some really great artists in this thread. this is joe hodnicki from lbi, he does pretty much everything; block prints, painting, and alaias/hand planes.
Nice pics..... I m going to test out the photomatix for HDR http://www.facebook.com/pages/Rob-Thomas-Photos/277123358968536?ref=hl My page is mainly surfing and landscapes.....Hopefully there will some sort of swell coming towards the end of August Let me know what you think
man, awesome NYC shots... I love cityscapes and skylines and you've got some really good ones. you should definitely be trying some of those views in HDR... with the dawn/dusk skyline shots I'd also be toying around with long exposure, it would give the water a soft look and put some motion in the sky... HDR can be tough with people in the frame that are moving... sometimes you get them cloned which results in alot of time touching up... and when you try it, the more shots you have to blend, the less noise there will be in the final image. Noise is a major problem with 3 shot HDRs - with 5,7,9 or more it becomes less an issue.
I have always wondered how photogs get those ridiculous shots with good color and detail in both the foreground and the sky. HDR seems pretty interesting, I have never tried it. What do you mean by setting your camera to bracket? I shoot with a starter DSLR sony a230.
