That wave Ricardo Dos Santos got with like 5 seconds left to take down Kelly was sick! Glad to see the contest back on with some good swell.

Medina's first time at Chopes... not bad at all so far.

Go Medina, make us brazilians proud... help this insane prejudice against brazilians in surfing fade away... for the win!

Taj vs Dos Santos coming up soon! Waves are pumping and Dos Santos is on a tear, so this heat should be on fire!

Perfect timing for taking a later lunch

Bummer for Dos Santos, I think his first 9 was under scored and Mick's 10 was over scored.

But still, he's my second favorite Brazzo behind Pupo.

Ok I'm enjoying this but is it just my local bias that makes me likey watching the ECSC and it's unpredictable waves more? I feel like watching a competition at this wave in Tahiti would get old after a while. You pretty much know what's going to happen. Surfer drops in, turns left, and either gets barreled or pounded...

Dude, you don't understand Teahupo'o then. This wave takes way more skill than throwing air reverses in slop.

Without having ridden it, I have as much respect for it as a I can. I understand how difficult and dangerous that break is. And I appreciate it's power and shape.. quality-wise it's far better than the messy waves that were at ECSC. I'll just chalk it up to personal experience in East Coast sand breaks, trying to find that one wave in the messy set that's going surprise you and to turn into something fun.

Watching massive chopes is one of the most incredible things to watch. Thats why people enjoy watching this contest so much and there is nothing like watching perfect barrels come one after another.

flores was charging the hardest. idk if he won that heat vs parko but he was still beasting. mick deserves it, no qualms there. that long barrel that almost pinched him at the end where he went high was insane.
