yup, that all about sums it up! Most of NJ's sand bars can't handle it... OBX can. Although there are a few stand out spots in NJ that can handle it, but always packed... better to just drop into close outs and take a few on the head... lol
This was very true at a few spots, but not all, The Inlet and Melbourne held the best IMO, great f'ing day to remember. This is from Patrick's AFB / Cocoa area.
Rodanthe was working all day today. Eat your f'n wheaties, the paddle is a b. There's a couple spots breaking heavy near the beach, but most are solid 100+ yd paddle outs thru walls of white water. Size is keeping the crowds down.
i hate those paddles....talk about frustration and burn....i get out there and just sit for 10 mins to relax a bit
damnn, never been to obx..i duno if I could handle that after an 11 hr drive.. This things still stalled..nothing crazy in NJ yet, got a few mini brown barrels for about an hour yesterday after a monsoon came thru and brought a W wind..too bad we surfed next to a pipe gushing out rain water and ****.literally ****. This morning was fun, some head high sets and an occasional barrel..It looks as if the next few days will be better, sunday/monday ideal
thanks for the surf lesson.iv always wondered whats up with the steep drop offs and closeouts.someone told me years ago, when the swell comes in and breaks on a flat sea bottom,it closes out.but if it comes in and breaks further out on a sandbar, then we get good waves..jersey is hollow, shallow, and deep pits.u just have to go search for it,part of the journey we surfers take.i was out this morning, but the beach i was at was closing out on the beach..like u take 2 steps out and drop to 8ft.iv always heard waves dont break well in deep water, they just roll on by.waves break in water half as deep.to be honest,i get scared surfing spots that break real shallow.theres been countless times iv gone to the beach, and decided to only go swim and bodysurf, rather than try to stand on a 5 ftwave in 2ft deep water.to this day i get scared having a board leashed to my leg.when i started out,i never used leashes.i can duckdive and everything, but iv had bad xperiences getting suckedover the falls with a board.i know its all part of the game..my surfing isnt worth bragging about,im just another fatguy looking for a ride.feel free to share some more tips
