looking for something that is tall, that may go basically from my lower back up on side and across the shoulder blade area. i would prefer something like the view looking through/out from inside a barrel. its going to most likely be black and white. if anyone has any drawings or pictures or anything that might fit this description feel free to share, im having a tough time finding things to share with the artist that really will show him what i want done. im going for a somewhat realistic look as opposed to that surreal look you see a lot among surf art. here is a link to the closest thing i can find to what im going for. picture this maybe a little taller/thinner minus the surfer http://img2.etsystatic.com/000/0/5744320/il_fullxfull.293784642.jpg
+1 on this im looking for something a lot like the picture you linked realistic on the shoulder/rib area
I don't know if its exactly what you are looking for but there is a photographer named Clark Little that takes a ton of shots from inside waves. Even if you don't use his images as a basis for the tattoo he has some really cool pics to look at.
from someone that has a decent ammount of tattoos and a "surf inspired" one, i would suggest going with color. half of the oceans beauty is its color
Don't be in a rush to put a permanent label on your skin. Do you really want someone else’s inspiration and art work on your skin for life? If you must, make it original and inspired by you. Don't forget you'll be a senior citizen one day and that "tat" will look like greenish blue sh*t smeared on your skin. I know a dude who thinks he's so cool because he has every surf toy you would ever want. Not to mention all of his other "cool" gadgets and what not. He thinks all his sh*t makes him cool, but in reality he is the most jaded elitist asshole I know and that’s far from cool. Simple fact is coolness comes from within.
that picture does not look good on the wall and it will most certainly not look good on you. that being said, I'd put some real thought to not getting something so huge inked onto your skin. even the mightiest of eagles on someone's forearm will one day look like a wrinkled chicken.
Just a few recommendations for some killer ink: You get a dolphin, sitting in your favorite recliner, smoking a bong.
Just be smart. I love my Koi but in hindsight putting it on my calf was pretty dumb. Being a bodyboarder and all. There are so many great surf artists out right now its crazy just Google. Ashton Howard in Fla is sick with the realism. Some cool line work would work for a large wave tattoo plus faster and cheaper.

heres an idea for u.get the dolphin surfing on the couch, smoking a bong, with a big pot leaf behind, with some music notes coming off the top!!that would be sick and original..theres plenty of good surf tats out there, but be original.dont just steal some pic off google, and one day youll be on a surf trip in fiji and run into the guy with the exact same tattoo, and youll look foolish then.and one more peice of advice, never get a grim reaper tat on your arm,i literally know 10 different people who dont know each other, that have the exact same tat and it looks stupid
hey guys.. just got session one in today. guy drew this freehand based off the pics i showed him. obviously we're also trying to cover up that 10 year old tramp stamp which he said he wants to 'beat up slowly so its not going to end up as a big blob'. this took about 4+ hours. http://s1186.photobucket.com/albums/z373/joewhittle/?action=view¤t=wavetat.jpg
whats up joenotoast? you already recycled all your mags? dude between the web and every freakin mag every time you turn around, you shouldn't have to describe any thing. find a pic and take it to your inkman(woman) can't get much more specific then that. and if you want something classic try old TSJ's , they're IT when it comes to photos like art
