To all the those Jersey Boys, wanted to ask some advice for some spots near Atlantic City - NJ. I'll be in AC for a Poker Tournament Wedneday/Thursday for a radio station we know pretty well who is hosting the tourney. I am terrible at poker so wanted to check out that part of Jersey as I don't get up north that often.

    Apperciate the help in advance.

don't know the s. jersey spots all that well. i would guess that if you cruised up to the boardwalk in front of the casinos you'd be bound to find a peak somewhere....

    Hey Chris,

I've surfed AC, but its been a while.

The break i surfed, I believe its right in front of the Trump Taj Mahal (maybe states ave). There's a long groin, which can get some long left breaking off on NE swell.

AC is quite a wierd place to surf:
I recall getting changed in a parking lot, which is a super urban, city feeling, and getting changed into your winter gear feels really odd! Then, walking in your gear w/ your board through the casino areas to the boardwalk makes the experience even more unique. Then, you get to the boardwalk, which is a little different than your average touristy boardwalk.

Overall tho, AC can offer some fun surf. It does really well on a northerly wind, where spots to the north are chopped up.

Thanks Guys... I had pictured myself heading a bit further north, but I'll check out what's out infront of the Casinos (especially the Taj). I'll be at the Borgota which isn't ocean front. I'll have my camera with me, if anything's worth snapping a picture of I'll post it. I'm then headed to Virginia Beach for the weekend so ideally both places are firing.

    Appreciate the feedback.

fyi, if you've never been to AC it can get really seedy. So don't leave your keys around your car if you park on the street because some junky will find them and steal anything he can carry with his grimey paws. I recommend not even parking on the street and instead use a casino lot.

    No waves.

ac doesn't have any waves. its always flat. the best spot is the black jack table at resorts. other then that, drive down to oc nj for mid tide. it looks like this week there will be some ridable surf on the incoming tides with little to light winds. check out margate on a low tide. nice long surf mellow there. and lbi to the north gets fun on low tide. but can be a bit touchy as the waves break way outside. other then that, ac stinks, no waves...flat everyday!

Hey boys.. thanks again for the tips... ended up skipping surfing up in NJ, entered my poker tourney 417 total entries and I ended up finishing in the money at #35 before I was knocked out. It was a massive (7+hour) grind and something I am not likely to do again. Poker is ok in a neighborhood cash game or two but can't imagine doing that all the time. Get me outside.

Hit VB later that weekend which was really fun. Appreciate the Jersey boys passing along the tip to just key my boards in the truck while in AC.

hey man you need to hit up steel pier, its a great spot and its suppose to be firing on tuesday down there. Just be care because the locals are real serious about keepin kooks out of the spot, just be respectful and you'll catch some nice waves. goodluck with poker. if u have time you should move up the cost, i feel the better breaks are up north in the manasquan area.

Steele Pier stinks. Hasn't broke in 10 years. Atlantic city is flat city. It's actually a bay. The atlantic bay!
