Hey everyone! I am new here and realllly need your help. I have a beginners longboard, one made of foam, and it has a slice about 6 inches long on the topside of the board near the left front side, and it also has some other small 1 inch (maybe a bit smaller) gouges around the same area. I have no idea how they got there (they actually almost look like shark teeth holes/slices...) but I am wondering if a beginners longboard is useless when it becomes damaged like this, if it still surf-able even with this damage, or if it MUST be repaired before using. Or maybe it can not be repaired? Anyways, if I have made this unclear let me know. Oh, I can send you pictures if you need them.

    Thank you!

you need to have them professionally fixed to keep water from getting inside the fiberglass to the foam core. smaller dings you could do, but that sounds big for your first time. if your board doesn't have fiberglass over the foam then i don't know, except surf it till it breaks or you get a better board

Great, thank you. It isn't fiberglass and I tried it out with no patch work. I think as long as I don't use it all the time and dry it out really well when I get back, it should be fine. Im gonna try some good old fashion duct tape and see how that works.

Eventually enough water will get inside so it wont float anymore

Suncure Epoxy resin is your best bet. It works killer on both polyester and epoxy of course. If you use it don't use it in the shad outside... it will start to cure to quick. do it in the garage. use good old fashion duct tape on something else :-0

I believe he's talking about a foamie, not a n epoxy / poly board. It's probably more like trying to fix a couch cushin

If it's foam, I would stick with the duct tape. Using something else may dry out the foam or cause more damage to the board. If you own a television, chances are high that you have seen the "Flex Seal" commercial with the guy in the boat with the screen door. This might be worth looking into. If all else fails, can I use your board to clean my sink?
