Yesterday, Nov 8th I worked on my day off. Starting in the afternoon here in southern NC a clean chest to head high and bigger waves started coming in. Now further north, not far, the beach was flat. Now the charts had about 1ft at 12 seconds. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas where this came from and the reason why one beach was going off while the other was flat? My guess is Sandy made some sandbars better and took others away. But the size was freakish! Any ideas?

And I hope our northern brothers keep their heads up!

Yes, the swell had a ton of North in it... so it looks like those southern beaches were seeing the swell filter in, while a little up the road it was not.

Dude I know. So pissed. I was with my friend in the library Thursday and he saw the report and just left straight from the library and i had to go take an exam. said it was firing. I went there this morning and it was a real fun waist high wave with some barrel potential. This spot just sticks out further east than from where you and I live, and picked up that noreeaster that gave jersey & obx those waves. Pissed. Water was real cold today, was the first time I saw a wave break since 2 sundays ago!

I know man, if I knew it was going to be firing I would of not picked up a day at work! This beach in the pic is not south facing. We went from summer right into winter. I even wore my booties last week cuz the air was so cold making the water feel colder then it was. Glad to hear you got some. Hope this weeks forcast holds up. Might head over to Mase.

mase wouldnt be good. cb sticks out far enough in the ocean that it picked up the swell. and yes this major cold front f*cked everything up. water temp dropped 8 degrees in like 10 days. only wore a 3.2 today and my core was way warm but the tootsies were chilly and would have welcomed booties, but i do hate the guts out of booties. oh i just realized your talking about the upcoming swell. its a lot more E so obviously M******** will be better than most spots. im on it

The South End of Mase was the place to be..... And, yes, we will probably be rubbing elbows on the N. end later this week.

Personally Stretch I love North Carolina. I'm origianlly from up north and always wanted to live here growing up. I haven't traveled much and personally do not care to. I would not want to live anywhere else in the US or in some third world country. I'm Italian, and I don't want to go live in Italy! When I tell people I surf their like why don't you move to Hawaii? It usually doesn't get a response. Like your post doesn't deserve a response. That's just ignorance. So hit that Maui Wowi one more time spicoli cause you have to grow up some time.

Erock - can't wait. I'm sure we'll be cutting each other off and snarling at each other.

It was crushing to see the pictures from down there sent to me while I was sitting in class...
As for waiting on waves, patience is a virtue. It makes the victory that much sweeter.

Spicoli Hey bud what's your problem! lol

The hunt and searching for waves is part of the fun. I would hate to become pesamistic. Spoiled is a terrible thing! When is the last time a Californian won a world title? East Coasters appreciate **** and pay attention to the liitle things and hard work that makes you an all around better surfer.
