So winter is here, and I hate wearing a hood because I feel like it strangles me around my neck. Any of you guys out there have any suggestions on a good hood or cap? I havnt tried one yet that fastens under your chin..so that's an option, and also Hyperflex has a hood, but it looks like a wetsuit beanie. Any ideas, suggestions?

I wear a Quicksilver hooded vest under my suit. Very comfy in the neck area and if you don't need it you just push it back off your head.

I live in Southern NC, I agree with you mostly on the hoods. I don't usually wear one but maybe 4 or 5 times in a season, but those 4 or 5 times I always wish I had one that was good

20 mph North wind and a bald head and you'd wish you had a hood.

I like mine but it doesn't cover my chin, which is preferred

this. not to mention the damage not wearing a hood can do to your hearing. if it's windy & even semi-cold, i'll be wearing a hood.

I have a 2 mil rip curl ebomb hood. It's not too restrictive.

Everyone has a different shape and need for a hood or a wet suit accessory of any kind. Your best bet is to go into your local dive shop or surf shop and check out the different styles. Personally Rip Curl's hood fits me very loose and I am always getting a cold rush to my head with every dunking I take while the Hyperflex billed and bibbed hood fits me very nice with almost no water wash.

If the water temp is under 60 wear a hood or be prepared for this

I also wear a Quiksilver hooded vest. It's kinda tight around the neck when the hood is NOT up. But when it is on, it feels great and keeps my head, chin and ears very warm! The vest part also adds 1 mm of thickness. So I'm usually good for the whole winter with the hooded vest and a 4/3. At least for Va Beach and OBX.
