Guessing it's pretty hit or miss. Any thoughts? Anybody go there at this time more than once?

Really? Being from VA Beach, the closer you get to here on OBX, the smaller it gets. Go south to Pea Island, Rodanthe, Avon, or even Buxton. If the wind is out of the north, or is cross-shore/off-shore on the eastern-facing beaches, go to Frisco.

If you want a location with people around, on a good day there should be guys in the water at S-turns (just north of Rodanthe), and/or the Hatteras light house.

Another thing to consider is the water is going to be a good 5-10 degrees warmer in March/April at the Hatteras light house than in Nags Head.

I confer with Jasorod. Head South for water temp. alone.

Go south. Hopefully the wind won't be howling, that would concern me more than a complete flat spell at that time of year.
