Theres a great shaper in Monmouth Beach his name is Earl Moore, and he and his buddy make boards in a shop they made. Im a bodyboarder, so i haven't purchased any, but ive seen there work and its fantastic.

pretty much the norm - ppl rave about boards they've never ridden, based on looks - usually the spray. Or buy a board, ride it five times in summer slop, and declare the board "magic".

    Talon Surfboards

A friend of mine I grew up with started his own board company, I have used them and I am very happy with them, he is located in Oceanside, Ca but I consider him a local shaper since he was born and raised in Jersey, and does a lot of business here. Check em out,,, http://www.talonsurfboards.com

I used to only ride Ashton's and loved them all. Never got a bad one... A good friend used to work for Ashton before heading to Cali to shape for a few years who just returned to MD.

Funny enough, when I went to Costa Rica back in 1992, we hooked up with a local, Boro, in Jaco. We partied with Boro for our stay in Jaco. One night he was in our room and got all excited over the all the Ashton's stacked up... Evidently Boro and Jon had hung together on a number of Jon's trips to Costa. Very cool experience to say the least.

Anyone know if Jon is still shaping and if so, how to get ahold of him? Last I heard he was only shaping custom orders... I've been out of the water for a few years (unfortunately) and started surfing again earlier this year and am in the market for a new board or two. I definitely prefer to give my business to a local guy or at least an East Coast shaper.

When I was in Carolina Beach, NC for New Years, a lot of the local guys were riding a local board called Greenroom Board Company. They are epoxy and I really liked the shapes. I'm may consider one of those as I'm going to be back down that way in a few weeks...

    Who??????

SJ shapers = Brian Wynn, Will Tucker. In fact they are worth the drive for you northern folks as there are no shapers worth a spit above the Great Egg Harbor.

Right, because Tom and Bill are trying to hide their boards from everyone and keep the fact that they have boards for sale "secret." Sorry.

Cosmic Bull may be the worst name for a board brand I have ever heard. Worse than Seasoned or In The Eye put together!!!!!!!! Bic, Surface, and Liquid Shredder are out of the running because the are not actually real surfboards.
