that is an incredible gereralization of the way our freemarket system works. While yes a hack like roy can charge whatever he wants for a wooden surfboard that does not do anything but float, the other side of the freemarket system is that a buyer will only be willing to pay what he thinks the item is worth. In Roys case the surfboard is really only worth the material and a judgement on what the level of difficulty is in the labor.

that is the reason why EVERYONE thinks Roy is a crazy kook who can't be taken seriously. I believe he had done a world of harm to himself by continueing this thread.

Can we all just agree to not post on this thread so that is vanishes down the threat tree... just if everyone agree's to stop posting we'll be done with this ridiculous thread...

I'm correct actually, and if you wish to show otherwise you'll have to do more than that... i.e. address the subject matter.

I suggest that you look at the works by Damien Hirst who is the highest paid artist in the world, and see how his creations fit your materials plus labour paradigm.

FYI I do not smoke crack, nor do I drink alcohol or use drugs of any kind, prescription or otherwise.

    Your comment is defamatory.

No, it's mostly your own ideas, not mine.

Clearly the boards do more than that.

    We'll see about that.

More nonsense, it is demonstrably the case that many people do not think that. If you disagree please prove your case that 'EVERYONE' thinks it... you can't make it true by using upper case either ...

Good luck with that agenda... and agrees does not have an apostrophe.

Admin can you please shutdown this thread? Roy will just go on and on. What do we need to do to get this thread stopped, start using racial slurs?

Roy the responsibility is on you to prove that your boards are worth more then the materials that are used.
I think you need to take a business class. And by the way, your boards are not really comparable to any sort of "highly valued" art. they are just heavy logs. I have a 9 foot crestwood surfboard. the board was made in the 60's. It is the heaviest thing I have every carried to the beach. Its also the fastest board I've ever surfed and I'm certain that it is faster than your boards. UNLESS YOU PROVE OTHERWISE.

Precisely, and if one compares such prices with the disposable incomes of the buyers it puts it into perspective... some of these people earn 20 to 30 million per day, spending a million for such people is a relatively trivial expense which can be done on a whim.

The price is what it is in the case of my boards because it feels right, it's not necessary for people to burden themselves by getting upset about it.

A lot of these comments sound like communist ideals... don't you fellows live in America?

I'm not required to do any such thing, and you are free to think what you like about my boards and their price.

    That's nice.

For your information: I'm merely responding to other people's posts, so if you don't post my responses will cease.

Racial slurs will no doubt work if you want to lower yourself to that level.

Yes, I am wrong, yet you posted no links or information to prove you point. Good job, you showed me.

Deuteronomy - 4:15-18 - Then God Said to Roy Stuart - "Roy, I have blessed you with the ability of a craftsman. Go and use this ability to provide surfboards to the fabulously wealthy for outrageously large sums of money. Prosper, Roy. One day you will actually sell one of these cocakamaney surfboards to a Goldman Sachs D Bag and then, Roy, then YOU will be the one laughing on the Swell Info Forum!"

He's not lying. As soon as you concede the last word the conversation is over.

I think this thread came to an agreement a couple pages ago. It's all based on what your personal definition of performance is and how you want to surf.

Everything else has been fluctuating between annoying and amusing.

RID, it seems like your a little butt hurt that your board didn't get the respect you wanted.... Imagine if you were Roy, could you react as calmly?

so excellent to see the typical pile on tactics of the swellinfo herd thwarted by logic.

yeah, shut this thread down - this guy's a serious threat to all of us non-kooks in the USA, USA, USA!

    :)

Sales tax does not apply to items which are exported from NZ, and within NZ the price is is inclusive of sales tax (gst).
