Jeff Hubbard signed with Churchill last week. He was wearing his new Churchill fins (Hubb design) in last weekends event, which he won. The new Hubb Churchills will be out in 09. You can check out pictures of them on the Ebodyboarding message board. Since I can't find any Redleys this might be my next fin.
the whole bodyboarding world is going churchill. its going to be weird not seeing hub rocking the vipers, allthough I never personally liked vipers.
I currently use Vipers. I love the thrust they give you, but I hate their comfort level. After 1 to 2 hours in the water my ankles start hurting and my calves cramp. I tried the Tech 2's about 2 years ago, but wasn't impressed with their power in our fall and winter surf. Maybe the new Churchill's will be the answer........
I've had them all churchills, vipers, tech 2 my personal opinion: churchill most comfortable, vipers best fit over booties and nice thrust but spongy feel to them tech 2 my current favorite nice stiff blade easy to dk with but a bit tight with bootys plus you can froggy kick when doing duck dives to get under those overhead sets. I have yet to see a set of fins that do it all comfort. thrust, floatability and versatility for prone and d-king. I hope these new churchills rock!
I'm no fin expert, having only tried three different types so far (Vipers, Churchill Slashers and Kicks), but I'd say Kicks are pretty close to being an all-around versatile fin. They're real comfortable, with a stretchy fit. Less thrust than Vipers, but more than the Churchills I'd say. They were designed for DKing, and work fine for prone. I think they're supposed to float, too, but I haven't actually tried to see if mine do. The stretchy fit means I can wear mine now with bare feet and a heel pad to tighten them up a bit, and they fit on over my 3mm booties for winter.
