I hear ya man. I had many doubts and researched every way to discredit it before I believed too. God's in control of everything so I'm sure He has control over what His Word says. I don't think He would have dropped the ball on that.

Truth on matters that truth cannot be found on = faith. Belief in evolution theory takes more faith than believing in a Creator, in my opinion.

Everyone these days claims to be so open minded. If that's the case shouldn't we at least consider this to be one of the options?

If anyone is offended I apologize. My intent is not to offend. However, the Good News is offensive. I'm just going to lay out the Gospel real quick and then I'll be done unless anyone has any questions for me.

    1. There is a God and He is Holy (set apart and perfect)
    2. We are sinners (bad things happen in the world because evil has entered the world)
    3. Sinners cannot go to heaven w/ their sin because God is there and He is perfect and cannot have sin in His presence. This is a problem for anyone who wants to go there. Got to lose the sin.
    4. God DID make a way for us to lose the sin and that was through His son Jesus Christ who came, died on the cross, took on the sin of whoever would believe in Him and rose from the grave on the third day.
    5. Our job is simply to accept salvation as a gift. There is nothing we can do to earn salvation. Then spread the Good News which is exactly what Wayne was trying to do!

When thngs are going great in life, God is responsible. ex. Ray Lewis crediting God for every win...

When things are bad, where is he? ie. I didn't hear Ray say God was the reason thse 2 people god murdered at the strip club.

If God is responsible for everything then he destroyed my house in October

these are not free surfboards. there's no such thing as a free lunch. the op is using deception with the title of the thread to get us to click on, and deception of the guise of free surfboards to get people to listen to the Gospel. ain't Christian! sonfollower needs to repent of his hypocrisy. this is a surf forum. I believe in Jesus Christ, but I surf for fun, and I go on swellinfo for surf-related topics. I think the best thing Christians can do to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ is just shut up and let the Holy Spirit work. You force it, you break it. If Christ is in you, then others should be drawn to Him through how you love others. Love one another.

Well said. Got a story that I’d like to share...

About 10 years ago I responded to an ad that was offering "free" golf clubs. Being someone who wasn't great at golf but wanted to have some clubs for the occasional game with a buddy I decided it wouldn't be a bad idea to pick some beater clubs up. Well, this too turned out to be the ole "bait and switch" tactic.

When I got to the house I was greeted by an elderly couple who basically wouldn't let me have the golf clubs until I listened to what they had to say about Christ. They started with "Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ". I said "well as a matter of fact I do, but I just came for the free golf clubs." The wife then proceeded to stall and "find" the golf clubs while the husband handed me a couple of their Christian books that they themselves had recently published. I thanked them for the offer on the books but said no thanks, they insisted I take the books, "no charge" and to read them and pass them along if I could. To stop the two from carrying on and on I said "sure no problem" and thanked them for the clubs.

Their whole goal was to get these books in my hands, and they used "free golf clubs" as a lure. It somewhat worked, as I was wanting the clubs so much that I put up with the uncomfortable interaction of which I wanted nothing to do with and took the books. So at the end of the day I got my clubs I came for and went about my business. The fact that I told them I already had a relationship with Jesus and the fact that they still kept pushing it on me is what stuck out in my mind. Almost like they didn't believe I was "saved". So now when I see things like this (free surfboards), it brings me way back to that day and how caught off guard I was by the whole thing.

Moral of the story, this is not a new tactic, it’s been done before and it's deceptive. If you want to spread the gospel, do so in a way that isn't deceiving, misleading, or catching anybody off guard. I also don't believe it's a good idea to be messing with someone else’s kid like that. If I wanted my child to know about Christ and to have a relationship with him, then I the parent would teach him / her that myself. I don't need some random guy handing out pop sickles teaching MY kid the lessons I should be teaching them myself. It's not your place to educate MY child, it's my place. End of story.

I like it that "sonfollowersurf" says he speaks the TRUTH but starts his thread off with a deceptive subject line. How "christian" is that!!!!!

Listen guys and this may explain it better 2 Corinthians 4:1-2 "Therefore, since through God's mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God."

Free surfboards was the topic. So thankful we get the opportunity to talk about Jesus. And you all have an opportunity to accept HIM as your savior.

if He is God, as I believe, then He doesn't need you to impact anything for Him, and He doesn't want you to give 'free' surfboards in His name. He wants you to love others, and stop posting on this thread for Him. If He is God He can do anything, so therefore he doesn't need you, especially for what you've done here.Your thread and your posts are not of God. God is love.

Only one Son of God. He is the only Jesus I need to know. You should think up a better screen name, that one was taken long ago.

Wow!!!!! As many would know- I really don't check out this forum as much anymore... But wow! I just read this and after all the garbage that you guys talk about- someone posts something positive and mentions the name of Jesus and you all jump on his back?!?!? Seriously you should be ashamed.

He actually never brought up the word religion.... Someone else did... Religion is 'mans way' to get to God- like doing good works or following laws or codes or traditions to be at good standing with God. As was stated earlier - and is stated clearly in the Bible - the only way to have a good standing with God is through faith in what His Son did on the cross... Die for your sins so you can enter heaven on the day you die.

So I got two questions for you all:

    1. What is your beef with Jesus(the Son of God- not the new guy above) Why do the majority of you hate Jesus?

    2. Lets say that you believe in what ever makes you feel good about where you will go on the day that you die. And remember that 10 out of 10 people die. one day it will happen to all of us. You will end up in Disney land- since that's what you believe and it makes you happy. So the day comes- you die and end up somewhere different then Disney land... You end up in utah. So what does that mean??? That you had the wrong answer. Thus if there is a wrong answer ... There must be a right answer. So remember this- just cause you believe in something - does not make it true. We must all strive to seek what is true. And for an important question- like where you will spend eternity -you better have the correct answer!!!

Just some food for thought. I don't want to come across as pushy but I do think that it's serious issue and question that we all have to really put our emotions and past experiences aside and come to a correct and truthful answer to. The only reason I say this is over the years I have gotten to know some of you and I do care about all of you and I care about where you will spend eternity ... Cause you never know when that will happen

1st - I don't think anyone here hates Jesus. Some just hate having it pushed on them. ESPECIALLY on s SURF FORUM... If I went on a Jesus forum I'd expect some good preaching. When I look at a post that says "Free Surfboards" I don't want to be told what to believe when I click on it.

As for the 2nd part of your response... You are way off. Nobody will ever know what happens at the end. You can hope, but you will never know. If you do have a belief odds are you are wrong. Only one can be right... If "God" is as great as I am told he will let you in to the party regardless of what you believe. As long as you live you life as a good PERSON (not Christian) you will go to a hapyy place when you kick it.

If you think you figured it out and you know 100% what happens you're ignorant and probably incorrect....

Nailed it. I personally have no problem with having a set of beliefs. The problem starts when those who chose to believe in a religion or a higher power as the case may be push their views on others. Just because you believe doesn't make you better than the rest of us. If anything is shows your inability to find happiness in your life of believing.

P.S. This thread is like herpes it just won't go away.

To all you with negative vibes, why don't you just keep your opinions to yourself. He wasn't demanding anything from you. Just asking for help if you feel compelled to give it, I think it's a great ministry for The Lord. If I were a young impoverished kid I would be overjoyed to get a board and be able to pass out. I'm sure he isn't giving them away to your average Joe off the street. He's giving them to children who might not otherwise have anything positive going for them. Critique if you may, I won't be bothered. Just think you should hear someone out before scolding them. Ryan
