So I plan on surfing somewhere in NY tomorrow and this will be my first time going there. I'm not asking for any secret spots or anything, i'd just like to know the best way to get to the area from North Jersey. Also any general warnings would be helpful, I plan on surfing either Rockaway or somewhere in Long Beach such as lincoln.

defineley just drive if you can, its always easiest. The trains are overrated. just type in the directions to your phone or computer

ok thanks. would you recommend going to long beach or near rockaway? i'd prefer a break without sketchy things in the water i would be unaware of (jettys, etc.)
also does the route go through any shady areas i should be wary of? any way to avoid them?
