I'm ready to put the suit away personally. Think I did my last session of the season with rubber on this past weekend. If it's one of those mornings where it's a bit chilly i'll just throw on my neoprene under shorts under my boardies
Me and a buddy were out Saturday, and as we're getting out this kid, maybe 20, starts asking us about how cold the water is and how warm we are in our "swim suits"...long story short, we tell him we're warm, even w/ 37 degree water, and he ends up running in and polar plunging. It was strange, but gave him props for his plunge.
out at croatan this past weeked I was walking to my car to get my camera once i had my fill of waves and their was a kid with three of his friends one of which i assume was his girlfriend, walking board in hand with a spring suit on...... i said it was a bold move and to have fun. He lasted maybe 8 minutes?
Im sitting out in my 6/5 saturday on Long Island.... I know its a bit overkill... but not by much. SUP comes charging out towards me and starts saying... man how thick of suit you got on? looks like a bullet proof vest dude.... um ok... I guess.... then tells me he rockin the 3/2.... 25min later he's on the shore getting out.... the waters still cold up here...
My buddy forgot his boots on Saturday in NJ. Waves were so fun, he tried wearing gloves - f'n hysterical! He looked like the kid from Xmen first class - I think his feet are still cold.
I've been using a 5/3 the whole winter and I never got cold. Though Ithink I'll stick with it until probably late pril, early May unless we get a bunch of really warm days like we are right now. I'm anxious to break in my new boardies though. They were a buy one get one deal!
anyone whos thinkin of using trunks is a nut, you guys got spring fever, i wouldnt do that untill the waters 60 plus.
On a serious note, I trunked it yesterday w/ a 2mil top at WB but I was skimming. The air may be warm but holy **** the water is NOT.
I was heading out for my session on saturday and i remember seeing a fellow i followed out wearing what looked like a blue colored 3/2, with boots and gloves. about an hour later he came by me heading to the beach, teeth chattering, and muttered " F*ck This, i cant feel my hands, arms or feet! I'm out!" I was still rockin my 5/4, 7mil boots and gloves, and was able to stay out for about 3 1/2 hours. Didnt even get chilly... Personally i dont even see the point of owning a 3/2 in my neck of the woods, but hey thats just me.
Rocked a 3/2 on my log this weekend at Rockaway and was a little chilly but fine for the most part. Shortboard was a little colder. I had my 7 mm boots on and 5 mm gloves. My SUP friend tried to go out with no boots and gloves cause he lost his. No hood either. Paddled out and then paddled back in with numb feet.
