Comparing waves is one thing and very subjective of course but as for locals, again you NJ guys have the SHREDMACHINE so yeah Jersey wins for sure

We do get E, no N/NE, and unfortunately, no SHREDMACHINE.

You are in the shadows on E swells and don't get them.

Alright, that's good to know. No one show up on East swells in RI. We get NOTHING at any of the breaks. hahaha

I'm talking about pure east swells. Not SE. It may trickle through after it dissipates because of other land masses (ie small islands) that are east of you. It looks similar to Florida with the Bahamas shadowing it. Hurricane season is your time to shine. Otherwise, you don't get swell with enough size to work at the points.

Regardless of swell direction. The argument is wave quality and consistency. NJ hands down beats RI over an entire year. I'm not just talking about hurricane season which is your glory. I'm talking about winter and spring too. So basically fall is good in RI while fall, winter and spring in good in NJ.

ive only been to pt judith, and matunic this winter, but i had a better time there than jersey. might of just been the swells i caught. granted, its mushier and the barrels reflect this, but the lines are longer and theres nothing better to me then a 100 yard point break ride. So your assertion that Rhode Island sucks in all seasons but the fall and doesnt pick up swell in the winter is erroneous.

They say it's too crowded, overdeveloped, full of corruption and the people are rude. Yes, the whole country mocks New Jersey. As the whole country becomes more and more like Jersey every day.

I'll throw my hat into the ring. I don't know if Jersey is overrated or not. I have never felt a need to immerse myself in water that cold. I can say, however, that some of the most arrogant, rude and all-around unpleasant tourists I have had the misfortune of crossing paths with have all happened to be from the NJ area.

This is the case both on and off the water - so it doesn't just seem a surfing phenomenon.

I've only met two chill NJ surf tourists in the last three or four years, and they happened to be longboarders.

I think NC has the best waves on the EC followed by NJ.
Alot of folks I have known that have gone to school in FLA miss NJ waves. Yes every state gets good at times.
Don't rag on NJ or the EC too much in general. Alot of folks I know that have gone to Cal miss the clean offshore days we get here. Yes they get way more swell but the crowds at the best spots are completely ridiculous and many many other spots are mushburger.
As for NJ people, yes there are alot of d-bags but you see that everywhere in the US, including Cal. NJ has some of the funniest people I've ever met in the world. They are the kind of folks that are "good to have on your side". If they are not on your side they don't give a F about you, and aren't scared to let you know. Unlike alot of places with fake and phony people that shake your hand while they stab you in the back, you know where you stand in NJ.
