    combo swell

are you seeing the charts in rodanthe on saturday. Screw that "spot" im going to a way better spot in pea island, and most other people should think about doing so also. Come to think of it there are tons of spots there so go find you own spot. Especially with combo swells like were gonna have on sat, any spot will be good. Just don't go to s turns or shipwrecks, cause those are my spots... hahaha just kidding

    Boards and Spots?

I really want to know who buys a surfboard for under 600 bucks? In case you haven't shopped latley, the only way to score decent board under 600 is to make it your self! Surf tech is the best deal right now and your starting at 650...and thats economical.

THERE ARE NO SPOTS! The ocean dried up years ago. Everywhere stinks. Surfing is over rated. I am selling my boards and I am going to start playing bad-mitten! Sh!t rocks.

    nateeb,

mid 50's in delmarva. a quality 3/2, and booties should do you. if your 3/2 isn't very quality you may want to go thicker.

I was out tues or wed with a spring suit on. It wasn't so bad as long as the air temp is high enough.
It was still cold as anything tho. :p
Serously though, a 3/2 or 4/3 should be fine. :p

Sea Colony lifeguards are a joke. half of them don't even talk English Chris. Trust me I was a security guard there at one point during my high school years. We were a top-knotch group that did our best to keep everybody safe, unlike the lifeguards who most of the time tried to show off their fancy ATVS, and tell us that we don't have jurisdiction on their beaches....Steve Oboyle and Jordan Obyole were the biggest part of the problem.

I agree with you, as a lifeguard myself at one point (1st choice). 100% of the year-round surf community are better than your average guard. They may not be the strongest swimmer, but most guards don't know how to handle big waves and current. I've seen some good size waves in my time --- Puerto Rico mainly, and most of the lifeguards I know would probably drown. I also know from my friend Nelson Bunting that the Sea Colony guards like to think they are hawaiin -- most of the time they take a lot of help from bethany beach in the summer due to poor training. Just my 2 cents.

Worst guards by far --- Southside State Park.

thanks Chris. I've fought many battles with the Southside guards -- they just don't respond to logic. The policy is not going to change until the personel changes. The older guards have been running a tight show for so long -- most of the DNREC administration either doesn't care or is unwilling to change.

I emailed the Department of Denrec Commissioner a 5 page letter along with attachments from other lifeguards -- even lifeguards with similar situations (OCI) where there was a jetty and surfers were given the opportunity to hug the rocks. I tried to explain how it was more dangerous to put us in a zone with swimmers --- it would be easier to move us to where the better waves were breaking --- taking the danger away from the swimmers and giving us what we wanted -- thus making everyone happy.....

hence to say my requests were ignored. thank you steve, jordan oboyle and micah sklut for representing lifeguards.

    WOW you know my name!

I am impressed! For calling me such a joke, you know my name very well. And my little brothers name. Maybee you will see us today!:) We will be surfing. Wait a minute...You were a security guard? Why did you give that job up? That is like the coolest job ever dude! Anyways...if you understood what lifesaving meant I could reason with you? You are the kid who used to complain that I would snake you all the time in the line-up to Jordy. I can see a surfers point and I can also see the parks point. There are reasons far and above you for why they run the beach that way. And man oh man, you just said some things that were not thought out. Sea Colony guards don't speek english...And then you say the name O'Boyle in the next sentence. Sound like you have a chip on your shoulder with us. And you are the kid who was yelling at me for throwing a competition at dumps years ago (RCBB). I remember. But in your post you said you want the jetty to surf when the guards are on. MAKE UP YOUR MIND? Welcome to the watermen. Any time you want to train or surf with us, in any size surf, I cordingly invite you. I will expect that because you are such a fanatical watermen, you will except my invite and join us. I don' think you understand what we do so I will show you. Some of the best surfers from around town always come down to train with us. We will push it to the point that one of us always pukes (c-buck) And in august when we are at the national championships with my friends from Cali, Oahu, NZ, AU I will tell them you said hi because you probally charged right on their home break. No worries though. Seriously, come out and see what we do for a day, maybee you can paddle with us and see what its is all about. We won't make you where a speedo either. Good day!

You should impressed. I know more about you steve-o than you know about me like you are unwelcome at certain spots in NJ and unwelcome in delaware. you are a PA transplant.

I don't need to see you train I worked as security remember? You seem to have a insecurity about attacks on lifeguards. Chris and I were not attacking all lifeguards --- just a specific group -- the Southside guards who you can not even try to defend for actually having a logic policy. The majority of lifeguards do the job they are supposed to. I have never had a problem with of the guards because they know I can handle myself in the water.

MD/DE lifeguards -- this is what I know about them --- the majority may be great swimmers but are no better than experienced surfers/waterman when it comes to waves and conditions, perhaps worse. I know that Sea Colony lifeguards are some of the worst trained --- the main problem is that you are a private beach, the second problem is that a lot of your hire's are foreigners --- tourists don't like getting an earful of Russian when they have a problem. just because you two do well in competitions doesn't make you the best guard -- you need the common sense to respond to situations. Bethany Beach employs mostly American college kids --- and has a lot of experience. From what I've seen they are one of the best units. learn from them. now go ride a kayak or something.

    Wondering...

how ones misconstrued ideas and misconceptions of identity beg to be far less thoughts of ones anger. Claiming it for another, is a road less looked upon, and with thoughtful reason, as angst and tire of life begging for an uncertainty, decay into ones wishes. Before one shall pass an entrance of denial, the other can only return what is delivered in fury by means of trial and error. Deeper we become with realizations of ones mysteries alike, the happenings sort themselves into three parts; flesh, blood and mind. Tick-tock-tick-tock-tick-tock...

    ?????

I would call Jon Ashton, Timmy Patterson, HIC, WRV, Pat Rawson, ...Lost, and countless other board makers more than decent surfboards. Based on a 5 minutes visit to just one shop the other day, these boards are in the $475 - $525 range. And this is May! These boards were $450 and under just a few months ago when the shops clear space for new inventory.

For the next few weeks are lifeguards weekends or all week. Doesnt make sense because the water is too cold for people without wetsuits. The only people in the water will be surfers. How far down do the ss lifeguards go from the jetty, can you surf there in the summer.
