I agree with jtblue... I am a total beginner and a complete "KooK" and wear it like pride. Using a leash is about respect, which, if thats how you really feel; you clearly have none and don't deserve any in return. I'm sure you're a big tough guy behind your keyboard but it's prob a different story at the beach and when your outta control board hits some guys 13yo duaghter in the head who he's trying to teach you're gonna get f'ed up no matter if you wanna call the popo's or not...
Don't usually post but some valid comments here. And although I don't agree with violent behavior to prove a point (I am more of a "can't we all get along guy"), the youth of today (I'm almost 40 so I think I earned the right to judge a kid) need to understand in the surf/skate culture there is a proving ground period. We all want things. However, we can always get what you want. You have to pay to play. And part of the paying process is to respect those who have come before. They need to learn who not to cross and what asses need to be kissed to join the "squad". I never forget a poor decision I made as a teenager in a crowded session at Love Park in the late 80's. Let's just say there was two hits, the second was my face on marble. But the lesson I learned that day I carry with me as traveling surfer and a non-Local Jersey surfer. I know my place and I respect that. I don't know leethestud, but I appreciate him for keeping the underbelly of the sport alive. It's not all love, stoke and sun.
YEAH f#$k Tweety and Viking !! And F Paco Moreno too. Ahh man I based my whole life around this movie...........
We are all type ENFJ according to Carl Jung's personality test. We need others' positive feedback to feel good aboot ourselves. .............especially on the intranets. Oh my God, Mr. Clemson please say something nice aboot me......now.......please...........I'm begging you. Anybody? Come on my esteem is running low I need a taste, baby. Holy Shoot, it really is the beginning of Memorial Day Weekend tomorrow, huh. Wow.
Holy hell, some of you are not people persons at all. You can stand up without having to physically assault some dude. Also, quit hating on new surfers. Yeah I understand the summer surfers (which even to me are annoying as hell. I've been in baggies when it was 63 degrees. If you only surf when its 75 plus then gtfo. I don't understand the desire to harm others. If it's a crowded spot, wear a leash. If not, screw it. It's not that big of a deal to start raging on a forum over. There will always be kooks, summer surfers, and people who generally get in the ****ing way. Take this from a new surfer's perspective...if you find too many people in your way, move further down on the break. There's plenty of places to catch waves.
Good thing I got past my phase of propensity towards manslaughter attempts. Dang northerners and their rock n roll music...
You know what I hate. Grumpy old negative surfer dude who living in the past cause he was some has been or never was! He has to ***** and complain about everything cause some kook gets in his way on a foam board. I'm no hippie and maybe you caught me on a good day. But all things change. Haven't we been through this before? Some kid gets mom and dad to throw down 700 for a new merrick that he can't stand up on all summer so he quits. Then I pick up a used board at a good price. Just shut your mouth and surf. You guys are prob the ones always watching the surf from up on the dunes. I hate those guys! What are you bodie? Waiting on your set!? Get the **** out there and surf! Slap on the bengay and grab your board that has a bigger rail then an sup, to float your fat ass!
I love how NJ is "cold". I surf the coast of northern mass through Maine and everyone is so chill. We all are just stoked to be in the water.. And sure the kooks and newbs come outta the cracks during like mid June but the surf generally sucks and there's no parking anyways. When it's waist high and I'm on a board bigger then 6 ft or an alaia I don't use a leash. But when there's people in the water and it's bigger what's the problem. There are a bunch of kids that talk bad about the old guys on long boards... And sure they snake every wave possible but I surf with those guys all through the winter and they are chill and really deserve the waves they take.. Everyone seems to be always against another but why not just paddle harder and pump faster and surf better then everyone else... Then it doesn't matter how many kooks are out there you actually own the water instead of acting like you do.
Did you really say you didn't want to talk back to some kid who's dad is king of the beach. A Vietnam Vet with his own right hander? And if you stood up to his kid the town will turn against you?! You typed all that and never thought about how ridiculous it sounds? Soft
