You got harassed by a "local" in Monmouth? I never have. Actually, because of work, I surf from the hook to Cape May and never get any sh*t. And I'm not a bad looking dude either... I hear a lot of people talking about "locals" and how they get harassed. But I never have any issues in NY or NJ. I don't get it
I tend to agree with you NYNJ. I have lived and surfed in Monmouth County for my whole life. I have seen a few verbal spats over the years, but nothing really major. I have gotten the stink eye a few places, but I try to just kill them with kindess. As long as they don't mistake kindness for weakness, it's all good. The best I can remember was surfing a spot that was predominantly bodyboarders. Not gonna get into the whole bodyboard/ surf argument, but they were doing their best to make me feel unwelcome. All I could do was laugh. It was like a biker gang trying to mark their turf riding around on mopeds.
i'm not welcoming anyone.if i don't know you,or you don't know me, you don't belong next to me at this million sandbar beachbreak.find a different sandbar.i lost my home.i drove and surfed it since december,though,by myself,until i paddle out in a couple hours,and then it's 'where are you from?' and 'how'd you end up here?' and i was out here all winter and spring literally by myself.i kid you not,a surfer surfs, and at 15 i hitchiked 60 miles each way in the winter weekends and slept under a million blankets with no heat,electricity or water to surf.if you surf you buy a winter suit,if you have to work at mcdonald's to afford one.whiny baby cryin non-surfing kooks.

nope, not interested whatsoever in your life story. it's not relevant to the topic at hand, but i love how you assume that anyone who doesn't just fork over info for you at the asking has been totally supported by their parents well into adulthood. my "issue", if you will, is that you're not taking an interest in the coast. you're asking for information to be handed to you on a silver platter, not taking the time to relearn the beaches & breaks that were completely rearranged by Sandy. it's bull****. do your homework & figure it out for yourself.
Dude, let me congratulate you on your wave riding vehicle. Being able to stand on a 6'2'' - 12' piece of glassed foam is an extremely unique talent. I haven't seen many who can perform this feat. I know youse guys like to kid yourself, but performance-wise, surfing a Mayhem is a lot easier than riding a kayak. It's all aboot that back foot/tail pivoting that makes things like snaps and off the lips so much easier than us kayakers and even those sponge dudes. Like, most surf cats wouldn't even be able to hold an edge on other crafts without skegs. Yes, I know you have to pop up to your feet..........wow. Plus, standing up on a wave gives you more control and give the person a greater sense of confidence dealing with larger waves. Waves seem alot bigger and more uncontrollable on a kayak. I'm more at the waves mercy, and have to learn how to tame those breakers, dude. I like how so many surfers look down on kayakers and those sponge things, but they can't ride those crafts. All the loudmouth ones never put up because they are all talk. Let me see you get barreled and then bust an air on a kayak. Yeah, didn't think so. If you think boogieboarders are bad wait until you go to a kayak dominated spot. We'll completely be out of control and run you over. We'll probably be welcoming, but you'll probably get run over anyways because I don't know how to control that thing all of the time. Sometimes I got it under control, then sometimes I don't. I got a roo-bar on the front of my kayak................and on the tail end too for when I spin around and end up riding backwards. Do you know what it's like getting dragged in that whitewater stuff upside down ??? Crazy, man. Yeah dudes, surfboards that are all neatly shaped and packaged in these stealth designs are for control-freak, nancy boys. Real crazy, out-of-control people ride kayaks......
Well said. The fact is that the consortium of tough guy glitterati on this forum would never have the stones to talk in person to anyone the way they do on here. If, in some alternate universe they hallucinated enough to have the balls to speak to someone like they do, they'd sick their attorney on the disciplinary conditioning that they received to the grill for their audacity. In this current society, however, you may not be around long enough after to call your lawyer. A quick look at the news will tell you there are plenty of people in this world that won't respond well to the wrong approach.
Now you are speaking down on "the tough guys" but you just threatened me with physical violence?? And actually YOU wouldn't speak the way YOU do to these people in person. So you are very confused. I don't say anything threatening on here so.......but I would speak the same way I do here to any dude on here in person. That's not a tough guy thing, it's just that I don't have separate identities. I is the same on a computer as I is in person.
Not quite sure when I brought up kayaking, but congratulations on getting dragged in whitewater. I'll be sure to avoid the next gang of kayakers I see in the line up at all costs. Thanks for the heads up.
wow goober,there are some serious kooks on here.maybe dude hasn't been to the beach since sandy because they are still cleaning up,or is a minor who doesn't drive.that don't make u cooler because u surf everyday.iv surfed everywhere in jerz never had a problem.only here on this forum I read this idiotic stuff.i used to take the train to the beach,belmar,lb,point,manasquan, and would have to wing it to the beach.there were times I walked in the wrong direction for an hour.most of us don't have the luxery of looking out the window and say hey im going surfing.and il put a million dollars on it that this is the same guy who will paddle out next to the 20 other guys instead of having his own peak,because hes such a *****.grow the fuk up loser,you are a kook,start playing tennis.dont forget your running shoes!!
