Probably too much West in it for RI, not to mention that wind....

Here's a question for you vets:

At what wind strength do offshores go from desirable to undesirable? We got pretty steady offshores here all last week but they were often in the 10-25mph range and that result wasn't great.

In my experience under 20mph is usually the key, but every break is unique and handles conditions differently.

so many different factors like wave height and period, tide, available equipment and abilities to consider.
but if there is a swell and offshore winds im going.

Carolina Beach can get pretty crazy during the summer time.

Dude you realize those are SWELL forecasts, not nearshore breaking wave heights? 6 foot at 7 seconds is not going to give you 6 foot breaking wave heights, save for an otherwise perfect alignment of conditions (tide, swell direction, wind direction). Even then, you're not getting 6 foot wave heights. Waves degrade as they get closer to shore, particularly short period wind waves, and what you see and surf is not a pure reflection of what you read that morning before you drove to the beach. lot of factors at play.

Erock, that west will definitely get into parts of RI though, that swell direction can light up PJ with more size and better winds

    Hey Mr. Wizard:
    No. $hit. $herlock.
What it DOES mean is that Rhode Island probably is going to have MUCH BIGGER DAMN WAVE HEIGHTS than Mass/NH if several different reports say 6-8 in RI and barely 1-2 in MA/NH. You think I've got a Woodward Wilson in my jock waiting for full confirmation of exactly 6-8 foot wave heights that I'll be riding on a given day so I can say online and out loud to people "I rode 6-8 foot wave faces today, brah!" or do you think I really just want to know if I should plan to stick in the area for decent rides or if I need to rearrange my day/weekend to travel elsewhere for the heighty stoke as our days of any stoked waves at all are numbered in few? CORRECT!!! PLAN B! Which your parents at tea may wish they had access to during the era of your conception.

Summary: your lady can take my "6 to 8" and kindly choke on it. Whether it's more like 6 or more like 8 is completely dependent on if you were a good alpha man and got her ass on the treadmill from November til now.

    End rant.

Prologue (JK njsurfer42, I meant epilogue): seems like me & PJB need to go balc does on an anger management take home course so we can save our wild child selves from self-extinction while we simultaneously cuss out CT, NJ, and other assorted states, provinces, sects, denominations, and cultures for merely existing.
