I've been trying this for years, to get my sister into surfing! Couple weeks ago she finally agreed to go and paddle around. The waves were only 2ft+ and fairly clean. She was stoked and so was I. As we were getting the stuff together because I wanted to give her the full experience of what surfing is about she told me she didn't want to surf one of my "good" boards. I told her it was no problem and nothing can go wrong (because it was only 2ft). The board I was given her was a 6'1, I thought it would be great for her to go out and paddle around and get the feel. After we got the boards situated, it was wetsuit time! The only problem with that was i'm a LT standing at 6'3 and she is like 5'5 so it wasn't going to go well. I gave her an old spring suit while I had a 3/2 full on. We finally got out to the beach and it was time to get into the water. When we got in she started paddling and then said it was too cold got out and then got back in. 30min went by and she wanted to catch a wave. We were standing on a possibly 3ft sandbar and I thought nothing could go wrong. I pushed her in and realized she was too far forward but it was too late. The next thing I heard is something no surfer ever wants to, a loud snap. The board came out of the water in two pieces. She looked at me with that face of sadness and I told her it was okay. When we got to shore she asked me if I was mad and I lied and said no. I wasn't too mad but if anyone was to blame it was defiantly myself. I told her everything will be alright so she wouldn't cry because she broke something worth a lot to me and my wallet. We later got home and everything was good I put the board in corner and let it sit. A few days later when they were out shopping, I took the board and hung the two pieces on the wall in her room. She probably wont ever go surfing again, but at least it makes for gnarly memories! So the moral of this story is, never let your sister/daughter/anyone use a fairly new board for their first time surfing.

How exactly do you call a 26yr old a "kiddo"?

It's just a phrase, sparky. Easyyyyy.....bring it back from Defcon 5...

And btw age has nothing to do with maturity levels?

In Balto the waitresses call you 'hon'......heck, everyone up there calls you 'hon'.....just trying to keep you out of jail for trying to deck someone for calling you 'hon' when y'all visit Charm City.

I had a buddy that called everyone "Eddie" during college. Even chicks. It was awesome.

Better than that was this crazy albino dude I worked with on truck deliveries the summer after I graduated high school. He was just a weird cat in every which way and called everyone "Chip" or some variance of it (Chippy, Chippah, etc.).

The face of a person says it all. Especially the mouth part of that face.

Hey, at least you didn't try to take her out in the 8-10 foot New England swell next to a rock jetty for her first surf like some others around here do. Just sayin'

    A) There's a shelf life to any joke and that one's just about expired, at least for the ability to throw it out each and every thread.
    B) That was your 12th post brah. From lurker to ball breaker. Wow. At least the size of your nuts have an inverse relationship to your creativity.
    3) Eat it. Tell me how it tasted. Then I'll make you eat it again. 8-10 times, brah.

Only a "TRUE" surfer would know the feeling of getting someone on a board, I don't think summertime pros are capable of doing that.

Not sure, but with the elements of newbie female and shallow ground, they're pretty good odds. Despite that, I handed off my board this morning to a chick who my buddy was teaching to surf because she was on a chip the first time out and it was one-footers at dawn and my board had more volume. We do it all for the nookie.

Yeah, I have just heard aboot this Baltimore, "Hon," thing. I didn't know it was "their thing" until a few weeks ago. Wow, that place is really reaching for some noteriety.

    Dune: You're 6'3''.....wow, that's fantastic.
