Traffic has risen every year... peaks are seen in summer, valleys in winter. The forum always gets invaded more in the summer time from the fair weather surfers and just overall increase. Nothing surprising there.

    http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/swellinfo.com

Also an interesting find. The website rank is pretty high for the US.

"Based on internet averages, swellinfo.com is visited more frequently by males who are in the age range 25-34, are college educated and browse this site from work."- Haha slackers!

Some people only surf in the summer because they can't stand the cold or aren't invested enough to buy a wetsuit.

Others, like me, would like to surf throughout the year but only get a chance in the summer. College in Pennsylvania meant I mainly only got to go surfing on breaks. Now I'm between college and going off to medical school in Pennsylvania in August (****ty timing right?). I'm sure there are a lot of students like me who are mainly home in the summer.

May-August is when I was always able to get most of my surfing in over the past 4 years. This year has been May-July. If I've been lucky I've been able to sneak in a session or two every October and April when I've been home on breaks. Winter break has historically been scheduled to the brim with family time, trips to visit my girlfriend, etc. so I don't surf much then.

I love surfing. Even so, as much as it sucks, it's worth sacrificing some ocean time for my dream of becoming a doctor.

Ultimately, people have complicated lives that involve lots of competing interests and, for a lot of people, summer is when people have the opportunity/find the time to surf.

    Hey Skeglegs,

What makes this forum a "cesspool?" What surfing forum is better? This one right here is the best. Most likely because it has an east coast bias. East coasters are just better people, usually.......maybe. Hey, calm down ZaGaf, you're good.

If you think it sucks, kick rocks ese. God, I hate that phrase. "Kick rocks ....... dueces"(heavy sarcastic tone). Anyway, you've got the, "Wahhh, someone didn't agree with me and argued with me, I'm leaving(Eric Cartman whining and crying) types. And now the emergence of, "This place sucks, but I keep coming on here" types.

Ahhh people are a confused, complicated species. That's why I like dogs. Those dudes are cool and sincere and furry.
