a set that breaks a foot in front of you. or crowds, but a crowd isn't the wave itself.

The worst part of the wave is clearly when there's no wave at all, whether it a result of no swell at all, high pressure, onshores, oh yeah...no swell at all. Can't even pretend that there's waves to enjoy with a groveler or "wave finder", I'm talking like you're on a damn oceanic lake. For days. And days. Like you can't even pretend you're even trying to surf. In any way.

    Sooo...what was the question again?

The answer is implicit. Good luck saying different.

You apparently have never seen or felt coastal still water. I would love to sample the gourmet mushburgers you speak of.

Getting caught paddling out on a big winter day... scrambling through the impact zone, when the timing couldn't have been worse... knowing you're gonna take a big outside set right on the f-n head. And it's gonna HURT.

+1 Those situations just seem so much more ominous in the winter.

When you are about to take off and a SUPer comes from behind and yells "I'm on it!"

I don't like the part of the wave that ends up breaking on top of the jetty. If you don't kick out you end up dry docked. Ka-Beesh!

Wait, I just remembered the ABSOLUTE WORST:

Two wave set on a solid head + day, someone else is in position for the first wave and takes it. You don't realize this person ate it shortly after the drop until you have dropped into the second wave and are just about to pull under the lip to get shacked when you see a board floating right in front of you with said person not really trying to get on it or get out of the way.... blowing what would have otherwise been an epic wave.

Chich - Did you take a look at the cams today for us in Va Beach? Kinda looks like Lake Gaston.... but flatter. At least it gives my kids something to practice on.

Worst Part of the Wave - Any Wave you miss. Be it your at work, sitting on the beach, or not in position.
