I think if they made a game for the Playstation Move or Xbox Kinect it would be more fun. Instead of thumb wrestling your way into waves using a standard control, it will force you to actually lay down and paddle, pop up, and ride the wave, the camera can pick up on your body positioning and technique, like it does in other games (I have the PS Move, and it's awesome), it would be a great work out and would even help you with actual surfing movements building muscle memory (mostly for pop-ups) for when you return to the water. Having said that, nothing can replace the real thing, it's still a video game at the end of the day.
What if other aspects were added, start off as a beach bum, have people invest in you, get a crappy board, work your way up, different decisions give you different consequences (selling weed for money= new board) consequence (lose sponsors). It would be a free roam world. Travel would be possible (if enough for plane ticket). The purchase of a house would be possible, or opening your own shop. An awesome physics would be added for added satisfaction (not press 'A' to do a 720). Multiplayer with friends paddle out together, comp mode, just you against a friend. Being in the right spot, board, endurance, would all come into play for how you have controlled your character. Just spitballin here, i feel there COULD be a good game
How did this whole f***ing thread go on for three pages with nobody mentioning California Games? Truly the pinnacle of video game surfing.
tony hawks underground for surfing? this sounds like a sick game haha, i remember growing up everyone had those pro skater games and they were fun as hell to play
^ +1 Although the skating part of that game was better than the surfing, pretty limited as to what you could do in the surfing part. But when your character options for the surf portion are a gorilla wearing a baseball hat or a cat in a tuxedo, you know it's a win.
youriding.com best surf game out there. hundreds of spots and changing conditions and its pretty good while at work. makes you want to surf for real
yes Kelly slaters pro surfing, like tony hawks pro skater.the graphics sucked because the game is from 1998 and it was for the original playstation.imo we don't need any video games to create more surfers.but then again we have call of duty and I don't see every kid running around the streets with an mtar
