you'll probably develop a heavy lisp and have the urge to buy a tufflite. don't do it. save that money for a plane ticket, or weed, or booze, or surfboard or a wetsuit.
love how there are no serious responses on this forum anymore...joenottoast what mount do you use? guess there aren't many options besides on the nose of your board.
Get an FCS fin plug installed on the nose, it screws right in like a fin, I also saw a guy on a LB with it mounted on something on the tail of the board, probably a better perspective from there as you can see what's in front rather than what's behind you. I don't know what he used but it wasn't the usual mount that you typically see.
Mount it on the underside of the board. Might be some cool perspectives and I've never seen that done before.
Yesterday I mounted rear facing go pro on the front of the longboard, forward facing go pro from the rear of the board, had the go pro extension arm in my right hand, and was wearing my google glasses. I can't tell you how much better my session was knowing I could upload all this footage to my facebook page so the universe knew I went out and got some waves. Everyone thinks I'm cool.
you know the gopro does look kooky on a surfboard... I don't think its the right thing to bring out to a crowded lineup.. but I have footage from surfsessions from over 3 years ago and I really enjoy going back and looking at the footage. the early morning dawn patrol glass, hardly anyone out with me. Its a great way for someone to relive the session to some extent. But if you think your getting super sick hindu banging while on 23 footers footage... you won't be...
for fear of being prosecuted by tuff guy dads and the police I've taken the link down.... I mean after all the kid was only 6 minutes old by the time I fitzpeedo'ed him.
Actually for the record, the reality of the situation was that I never once regretted it. that artard learned a valuable lesson and the lineup out there was extremely orderly after that. lol. I saw that guy out a few times after and he was playing by the rules so even though all the internet tuffies came out, it was an appropriate measure...
I got one because I rarely go out with anyone and wanted to see if there was something I was doing wrong or could be doing better. Also, I think about every session and remember a wave or a couple waves that were really fun and always wanted to go back and view a video, even if it was from the front looking right at me. They are fun to have, but I took them out on small uncrowded days because I didn't want to look like a kook but also because I didn't want to lose it in bigger, choppier surf. I definitely saw some things I was doing wrong like not taking those extra few paddles, leaning too far back on the board, sitting too far outside, etc. Here's the deal though at least for me, I noticed I surfed better with out it. I don't think it's a weight thing, I think it was the "on camera" thing. I would be thinking "man, it's been 10 minutes, I haven't even gone for a wave, this video is going to suck" or if I fell or missed a wave "man, I totally botched that, going to have to edit that out" so I wasn't thinking about surfing. The times I've gone without it, I'm relaxed, catch way more waves and have more fun. So I think it served its purpose, but I rarely take it out anymore. But one more thing, I loved posting videos and sending them to my landlocked brother and friends and saying "look what I did today..."
OP what part or Portsmouth are you from? I'm currently sitting in my office right off High St.. Portsmouth sucks
As long as nobody gets hurt it's all good man. I don't usually have any issues with anybody out there but occasionally I do want to snap on someone for being a total D bag, you did what you had to do, and if it worked then that's all that needed to be done.
