so i'm trying to get a trip together for the beginning of January to get out of the 5 mil for a bit. Never been there so i'm looking for some help. probably going to be about 8 of us so looking for a house possibly or a villa that can accommodate us near Rincon. looking for some surf obviously as well as some bars near the hotel. Any pointers are appreciated. I searched other posts but didn't get to much. Thanks!
if your gonna be with an 8 person insta-crowd don't all rush the lineup at the same time. PR locals won't be having much of that. be careful driving
Gonna be 4 chicks and 4 dudes so were not all surfing. I know the feeling of that at home and it's not a good one.
Google 'Villa Playa Marias' It's right in front of Dogmans/Pistons in Rincon. The owner Stu is the man.
^^^ And a perfect locale, doesn't get much better than right there. Damn I could go for some shrimp mofongo from Shipwreck, it's almost lunch time, but nothing I'll be eating will come close to that.
Yea my brother in law has relatives that live in pr and said mofongo is where it's at. Gotta get some when I go for sure
stayed at The Fisheye Inn in Rincon two years ago. Last year I stayed at another place for more money that was closer to Sandy Beach but not nearly as good. I don't even remember the name that's how much I liked it. If you want a cheap place for 8 people and all the snorkeling gear included in your rental, then stay at the 2 bedroom unit at the Fisheye view. You can see most of the breaks around Maria's from your balcony so no need to drive around checking breaks in the morning. Just sip some coffee, and watch the breaks from the balcony. Then walk the 1/4 mile down to Marias because it will probably be the best anyway. Well Dogman's gets awesome too. And Domes. And pretty much everything is awesome in PR in the winter.
You won't have to look too far for it, it's literally on every menu, some places have an entire mofongo menu with endless options, 1st time down I was sleeping on that stuff, but 2nd time around I was hooked!
Get ahold of bobby at mar azul surf shop. Its not on the beach but has 2 studio apts. 2 minutes down the road from sandy's. rentals best on island. I'll be there again end of oct. Also talk to Ramse Morales At surf lessons pr. He' s the man if ya a guide or lessons for the ladies. He' s a true pro, and I know for a fact. Anywhere on island and they know him. I have a bunch of buds there n never had any issues anywhere. Even when I got lost in a bad neighborhood in San Juan. Don't leave anything in ur cars or it will be gone. Rent a car to get to the best breaks. Enjoy and be friendly and your group will have a bangin time

Its on the beach but it's flat there. I's sandy so they can walk and swim they without dealing with rock or reef. 5 minute drive to surf. You will end up going there at night to drink coconuts anyway.
