U Carolinan"s better get ready for this weekend..i wanna see some some footage..(nj is supposed to be that bad either)
ya isnt there a super chill surfboarding movie called 'rodanthe nights' coming out in theatres soon about some hot surfer boyz?!! (in rodanthe lol)
Surfline's forecast: Saturday 6-8 ft. - head high + to 3 ft. overhead occasionally 10 ft. and good conditions Sunday: 4-5 ft. - shoulder to head high and good conditions. FAIR+ Monday: 2-3 ft - thigh to waist high occasionally 4 ft. and fair+ conditions. headin down to rodanthe in the mornin cant wait
dude if its really gonna be 10 foot your probably better off surfing duck research peir, rodanthe will be maxed out and braking way out on the third bar. When its that big your really just looking for the place thats gonna hold it the best, and i can tell you that is not rodanthe, you really gotta think outside of the box for these kinda swells, if the swell is really that clean and that huge just hit up somewhere north of the boner bridge, like corala or duck, you can have huge perfect A frame wedges all to yourself. Im telling you, if you check north side of duck research pier you will not be sorry.
ya, winds are looking good and swells are looking solid... hopefully it wont be maxed out. Im thinking it will be manageable, but hard call. There will be 2 very solid swells mixing together. The ENE swell from the coastal storm, and the SE swell from Kyle. It will be interesting to see how this pans out on Saturday.
do a surf report check in the morning and see if OBX is maxed out. If it is, stay in VB. Sunday, I would definitely head south tho.
i've surfed duck research pier and that **** goes off but im wonderin if it's gonna hold up in this kind of swell...wat do u think????
The FRF can be very good, but the sand is not good there right now. Also, for folks coming in from out of town, the FRF has no parking. It is federally owned property and therefore you have to know where to park if you are to actually try and surf there, which I don't recommend. There will be plenty of places to surf this swell. Please everyone, don't come and surf the same few breaks. It's really not necessary! Try some exploration if you're coming to the Outer Banks...I promise you there are PLENTY of empty peaks to be had off the beaten path.. I'm gonna say VB/ES/Sandbridge area is the call Sat...I guess just because I have to be up there for a wedding. I'll have a gallery from somewhere in that region on Saturday. Then I'll be back home on Sunday to shoot/surf.
look ive lived and surfed in The VB/ Outerbanks area my whole life, so just listen to what i gotta say. Sat morning, like as early as possible, duck research pier is going to absolutley fire. If i was home on at VB I would be high tailing it there for early early sat morning. Its gonna be huuuuuggggeeeee and eeeeeppppppiiiiiicccccc. Rodanthe is gonna be to big and maxed out. Hit up duck, from like 8 in the morn till 11, score an epic epic sesh, then maybe drive to to vb, or just stay there and surf some random corrala or duck bars. Im telling you, Those northern OBX bars are sooooo good on these kind of huge clean swells, and there is pleeeenty of room. Trust me, you wont be sorry, duck peir is gonna fire, I would not steer you wrong, Im thousands of miles away in colorado where its cold as ****, i want someone to score those a frame peaks. Hit up duck, take it from a vet.
how about sandbridge va will that hold more size then say the north end, kinda like the northern beaches of the obx? What do you think?
ok, so i was up in OBX for sunday and this is how it went down out... Rodanthe Pier = near epic S-turns = SHepic(super-heavy-epic) FRF = Mepic(mega-epic) thanks to everyone who didn't surf, keep it up
