I agree the ocean is broken

Did anyone ask for waves yet? Maybe we all need to pick a set date and time and in one voice ask the ocean for some swell. We have been patient enough, no? Sigh....

jesus guys. it hasnt been that bad. yesterday and today were the first days i havent surfed. before that i had surfed 10 days straight. VB has been lucky this summer. it hasnt been dead flat like this for a while. there has always kind of been something to ride. i was kind of nice to get away from the redundancy of the forum for awhile too.

 

ahh. damn. sorry man. can you travel anywhere else more exposed to southern swells?

Been surfing Rhode Island for 35 years. July and August are almost always flat.

Any swell in the Summer is a bonus (I am talking solid Chest to Head high).

Actually caught three nice sessions in July - Offshore and with some ground swell.

September thru December has always been the most consistent time of the year. Hold on, the best 4 months of the year are on the way...

Hurricane season has been slow - Also a sign that it will heat up in September.

Damn that was a sick vid! I would not have thought Gmac would have gone out in anything under 60 ft anymore but that was sweet to see him come flying in from way deep on the SUP. I will say considering the size of the swell there was a lot of shoulder hoping and snaking going on. That two man over the fall take off/wipeout near the end could have gone bad for those dudes, they were like 3 ft from each other.

Yeah out on the vineyard a a few days ago we had some solid chest to head high wind chop when it only forecasted stomach high, just gotta give it a chance some days and surprise swell will hit ya

 

Braddah...part of the reason you're jonesing so hard now is because you guys had solid S & SSW swells all summer up until then. I got sick of envying your area's reports for 6 weeks while ours were non-existent until I said fuggit and packed the quiver in the rig, gassed it up, and headed 2-3 hours to Rhodey. Did that the last weekend in July and first in August and was damn pleased with my proactivity. You think 2.5 weeks of flatness is intolerable? We've had 2.5 months of it in Mass. I feel for you, I really do, I just can't reach you because you've had 3/4 of a summer of nice waist to shoulder while Massholians have stretched their shoulders reaching around their waist to pick their arses in flat boredom.

I'm EmassSpicoli, and I'm a stoke-a-holic. I feel your pain. We all feel your pain. With Rhodey dry right now, you're 2-3 hours closer then I am to NJ where mad posters on the forum say there's sick sessions to be had on a number of days. As in the rest of our lives, opportunity knocks infrequently. To get fed the rest of the time we've got to leave the cave and go hunting. I just trekked to Central America to feed my stoke, bathing in cold showers and DEET, crapping in outhouses at a price of 25 centavos, brushing my teeth with bottled water, fighting off all the treachery of a third world country with loose government, loving every minute of it with no regrets. There's scattered armpits of wind swell strewn around New England this weekend and I've got every intent to forego the best BBQ weekend of the year opting instead to sit in traffic on rides that would take 1.5-2 hours each way without congestion.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you need to go adopt a pastime of checkers, backgammon, or D&D to make it through these times. I know there's no true substitute for surfing. I will happily inform you that the Carver board comes close to filling the void while keeping you in charging shape and even improving your technique of many areas. It's also a great time to spend a few more minutes in the sand and network with co-eds before hibernation season takes effect. April and October, my man. Those are the bookends of mating and it's a wise move to populate your harem for the winter like they was acorns.

There's a lil dust in the wind off Liberia as you read this and it's probably holding a schitt ton of barrells with your name on them. I know that for a fact because a bottle of Fanta grape drink smashed itself on my forehead tonight while I was charging worthless chop at the home break and inside it had a fortune cookie paper that said "shark-hunter's swell". Before you know it, you're gonna be whistling like a Brazilian you see that 12 wave set coming in of 6ft Hawaiian-scale waves rolling in.

We are what we think. If the pissing and moaning portion of this board used some reverse psychology and posted threads about fictitious days of endless scoring they'd have a better disposition and probably end up getting shacked and pinned as a result. shark-hunter, if you've gone that sour already, I can be your SA sponsor and give you affirmations of impending swell anytime you need it. Yea I mean Massachusetts always blows june-august but its been absurdly flat for the past couple months. Wont complain though, I didn't expect much better. Its actually chest high and clean at the point in front of my house now though. Too bad I just got deathly sick a little while ago so I gotta see if my doc deems it safe to go shred.. I'm thankful for some swell but I think its about damn time we got an actual storm! At least we can be assured that those october bombs will be filling in soon..

 

True life right there man...I've been trying to plan a couple day trips down there this past month but its been as flat as it is up here! brutal..
