I have to say I disagree with you guys about the no breeding thing. The rate of growth of Earth's population is going to start decreasing and eventually stagnate as developing countries turn into developed countries. It turns out once people have money they care less about having babies (just look at Western Europe and Japan). While I agree that we don't really want more people on Earth, countries that have too many old people and not enough young people to support them are struggling. On the climate front, things are gonna get weird. Just because we have a lot of ice this year doesn't mean we won't be iceless next summer. I'm in the middle of a really good book on surfing and climate change and the science behind waves called..."The Wave". I highly recommend it to everyone on this forum. Without going into too much detail, the gist of the book is that the ocean is warming up which is making it more unstable which leads to bigger waves, more rogue waves, more earthquakes and more tsunamis. The moral of the story is basically that we're all screwed so we might as well go surf.
hard to debate when human brains aren't evolved enough to comprehend such complex issues. the consensus among most cosmologists and physicists is that our universe is apart of a multiverse. thank god we exist in one with waves. oh wait....what waves? the humanity! where the hell is Kelly Slater (god or the devil?) and his damn wave pools?
i believe in the south, jesus and guns. dont come around my line up unless your bringing a gun, bible or fried foods.
In order for huge climate changes the ocean temp has drop at least 10 degree I've e been told. That means the ice sheet has to break off n a huge one at that to change current o the ocean. To me it seems that the earth is coming back around to where it used to be except the Japan melt down which is wrecking the pacific. I'm no ocean biologist by no means but a few friends are. Sure we are losing living reefs due to global warming. I don't worry aboot the cold cuz I lived in it my whole life. Ice melting causes higher o2 levels causing a better environment all in proportion. Just a thought.
It is not only a temperature phenomena. The release of excessive CO2 gas might cause the overall ph level in the ocean to change from slightly alkaline to slightly acid, since the ocean acts a a carbon sink ( ie: absorbs excess CO2 and CO from the atmosphere). This can imperil sea life, our main food source. The reefs are dying from bleaching and higher sea temps. That is not open for debate. It is a fact. I did not realize this site was for Nobel Prize winning scientists, but your learned opinions - yes, opinions -are welcome. Two things I have learned from astute observation - the mind is not finite, it has no beginning or end, therefore it is my opinion my mind is part of the cosmic mind. Who or what created it is not really that important to me. What is important is how we treat each other and our environment. That being said, I don't care what or where the waves come from, as long as they break. It is nice to know a bit about patterns and forecasts, but it doesn't matter if you are stuck at work or helping your neighbor patch his roof when the swell hits. Of course if you know ahead of time, you can fake an excuse. Call me captain obvious for that nugget of wisdom. I hope "climate change" here on the Lake Atlantic happens real soon so the flat spell ends. Peace, Love, and Judo.
nascar, thats a tough question right there. but i sold my gun a while back, even so we still need our guns.
I was about to post a bunch of links explaining my point...but why? You are clearly a smart guy and have your mind made up. At some point when all of the projections are not playing out the way the experts are saying they will, there has to be a moment when people say it is wrong. I thought that would happen when it became obvious that temps have remained stable for the past 15 years. But the experts say we are just in a 'pause'. One thing we can agree on I am sure. It would be nice if this flat spell would get a little active with something. Anything.
Anyone that thinks that humans haven't polluted the sh*t out of this planet and it's atmosphere is either ignorant or a little challenged. Good luck with that.
It's all about balance, and we have messed it up nicely. http://www.newscientist.com/article...ions-are-too-tiny-to-matter.html#.Ui7-Y3d0nAk
Global warming is not man made. It is woman made. How many women on this earth are menopausal? How much heat do they generate? Fix that, and you've solved more than one problem.
Yeah.I never said humans have not polluted the planet.Try to pay attention. I really enjoy being told how ignorant I am by those that are just plain dumb. Good luck with that.
i wish someone told all these birds singing outside my window about 'silent spring' so i wasn't kept awake all morning. man's wisdom is folly. everything is meaningless. rubbish
