I dont why but I have a good feeling on Gabrielle (well now its nothing but a depression) but I think the more this thing delays to develop the better chance it has to eventually become a wave maker. Once the cold front passes and that High moves in we could get lucky...lets hope.

 

Conditions look to push it out to the East once it gets a little further north but i'm with ya, let's hope she defies the odds

 

lucky you,europe sees the best of our groundswells.id rather be there than stuck on the eastcoast.surfing sucked this summer,as it does every year.im sure there was plenty of days of knee high chop u can take a half a second ride on,but that doesnt get the jitters out for me.im like a crackhead stuck in a farm in the middle of the country.i am feinding for good waves.i scored pretty good in the winter,and that was the last good swells i had.when i was young,still in highschool and got my liscense,id drive to the outer banks and back just for a good swell.iv been everywhere in nj and ny.nowadays im older,have a family,job,etc.. and i simply dont have the time to go searching.i know theres plenty of sandbars out there down south,but im lucky to have a 2hr window on days with some swell.iv made the trek out many times this summer when i seen guys postin fun waves here and there,id drive to my freshly replinished beach and get skunked.i dont get excited unless its atleast 3.5ft so that means there might be a wave.i dont live in deal or any of them places where you can surf when the waves are 1ft.the ocean doesnt turn on unless its chest high,and with the recent replinishment,it still might not turn on!!!i was watching fueled a big wave surf documentary yesterday,and it gave me the stoke to not give up and go somewhere else,even tho i cant afford it.kelly slater towed ross clark jones into a 50footer at jaws,skindog busts a 20ft air off a tow at,guys getting cleaned up at mavs by 30ft sets.a young brad gerlach talking about his 70ft wipeout at jaws,it was the best surf film iv seen in a long time.and the bonus section got clips of young andy and bruce and a bunch of other pipeline vets.3friends taking a surf trip without a camera crew or sponsors.thats what surfings supposed to be like,but every year it gets worse.when i started surfing,u could count the worlds best on 2 hands.nowadays theres so many good young surfers,its pointless to enter a comp or make a webclip in hopes of getting sponsored.getting paid to surf uncrowded epic waves any day u want is in the back of the minds of every surfer,but back in the day it was 1 out of 5 would make it.now with the current numbers its like 1 out of 50 makes it.everybody on tour and free surfers surf great in my eyes,competitions come down to who gets the best waves,and if there are any waves during your heat.i watch comps because i like to see people paddling around and taking wipeouts and getting cleaned up.now every new surf vid is trick,trick,trick.you dont see people paddling,u dont see how big the wave is,and that honestly sucks.air reverse air reverse air reverse,1 cut back,3 barrels,another 10 air reverses.that shyts corney

I've been watching that cluster of thunderstorms for 2 weeks! I'm hijacking this thread now. Is it fair? No. Should you have posted to my thread? Yes! Think about All of the Internet page scripts that must now be allocated to maintain these two threads. My god! Seriously...such a waste...

Do you consider yourself a lover of life? The earth? Why do this? This is terrible! The amount of sleep I will lose to this will pale in comparison to the wastage mentioned above.

Wetsuit ?

Looks like its going to be about 61 degrees out on Friday morning....anyone going to start wearing a wetsuit?

 

The contrails are actually moving again. It must be a sign.

 

Nah man not until the second week of October.

 

I usually hold out until November... 2 mil shirt or short sleeve full if it's cold out

lol...It was in the lower 40s this past week a few days for air temp for dawn patrol. You're telling me you don't wear a suit when it's in the 30s for air temp on late october dawn patrols? How many times have you had phneumonia

I never get out of a wetsuit all year long.
