Not to be that guy, but this is my first full fall season back east in 11 years. Less than a month left of cane season.... Can we start to get very worried now?

THAT's why it's been flat. Take one for the team and go back from whence you came. thank you for your sacrifice.

Waiting for a repeat of the Doomsday swell last year... caught everyone off guard... this fall seems like a bust.

Dudes, two Friday's ago we had a mix windswell and swell from Gabs. Most real areas saw head high bubages on Friday......small but fun conditions lasted through the weekend.

This past week we had another mix of windswell and distant groundswell from Humberto. Tuesday had choppy building surf. Wednesday was good. Thursday was fun. Friday was inconsistent but the patient were rewarded.

    There's been waves, crackers.

Then we got another front moving through tonight. Onshores to pick up today 10-20........going offshore tomorrow.

    What's the problem here?

there's been waves in the ocean if you go to the beach, but not if you're just staring at a forecast on a computer screen

It was waist high in CHS yesterday morn, and chest the days before. Did HHI not get that bump?

Hasn't been dry...but hasn't been a full blown week long hurricane swell either.

    Zach,
You're late to the party. Most people were getting worried about their lack of cherished tropical swell hookups about a month ago. I think getting worried about this hurricane season is pretty much a done deal. The pattern just isn't there for a storm to form out in the east Atlantic and take that classic Cape Verde track that hooks the entire east coast with overhead long period swell for a few days.

This year reminds me a lot of years in the past where we made it through the entire season without ever getting a tropical swell that produced overhead waves except for a close brush with some size on June 8-9 from Andrea.

Still....if you don't mind surfing thigh to stomach high waves, the past month has been super consistent...at least in Maryland it has. The complete lack of a decent 3-5 foot barrel is getting really old, but getting small waves fixes on practically a daily basis is making it a little easier to take, at least for me.

Ya, save up your days off from work and go on a trip in December when the water is ridiculous up there!

I don't know how you Yanks do it up there....I'm in Central Fl and it gets too cold here in the winter!

As Mitchell said, its too late to be worried. This August and September were a bust in my books. Gabby provided the Northeast with a medium size shot of swell, but thats about all we've gotten. Thus far, the best tropical swell of the year was in June with Andrea. Who would have thought?

I know I keep repeating myself, but October is often the best East Coast month. The return of stronger frontal systems and offshore days, plus the occasional mega beast of a hybrid tropical/low pressure system (like Sandy or The Perfect Storm). Keep loose fellas,

Perfect storm was the last day of October! For those of you that remember that swell! I could be wrong but I think October has always been the best for waves or storms.

Yes, we did. Don't get me wrong, I've gotten waves at least once or twice a week, but it has maxed out at chest plus every time. The first week I moved here last October it was head high twice and then Sandy came in following weeks.

Yes, we have all gotten waves, they are just sub par. If I have to take my quad fish out one more time I may scream.

Not asking for much. Just a head high day or two to get the dust off my short board

I had a blast last December. Had on the 3 mil and surfed alone all month. It was light offshore a basically every time too. Waist to chest glass, alone with high 70s air temps was fine with me. I'm going to save up time off and go in August when its 95 degrees, hot ocean water and completely flat.

Head somewhere. Anywhere. Maybe San Diego in February. Ahhh. That's the call

Don't worry Zach, you never know what can happen. Just look at last year. Nobody expected a crazy-arse storm to develop and mash the NE a few days before November. Sh!t happens.

Also, I don't know why you fellows expect every September to be chock full o' hurricanes that take perfect routes within our swell window. It's not a given. You can't expect it every year.

Well I don't know aboot youse guys but there's still some 2-3' chop out there.........."so screw you guys I'm going surfing(home)".........Eric Cartman.

Greg Mesanko of Grog's Surf Palace fame said that March is the best month.

And it's never too late to worry. Pfizer and Merck want you guys to worry and then to see a doctor. They got pills for that.

EmassSpicoli says December is the best month because that's when Santa Claus comes and he always brings waves......well at least he used to. Not so much these past years. What a #@$%

And not you Zach, I know you did the Swamis, but how come so many people want big powerful waves? I just can't see the masses on here taming the big stuff.

Went out this morning, dawn patrol, got some good ones, shoulder high and semi-clean, Sunday waist to stomach and offshore winds....stoked. The last two weeks have been halfway decent, yea buddy, I like fall and winter....bring it!!!! The seaweed was insane, catch a wave and paddle back out with 10 pounds of crap on your leash. Anyone else have that problem where you come from.

Here in santacruz CA @ 54degree 4/3 wetsuit yr round we're getting a nice 8ft 15 sec (11+ ft faces) next week. Last 6months probably ~ 7 good long period pulses 7+ ft @ > 15secs. Respect all watermen especially if they have sack to charge in the winter (which you do not)

Take what you can get is one thing, but not having one significant swell since June 8th is another. We are coming up on 4 months w/o anything over chest high and mushy. Completely aloud to complain about this Zach.

I do every day I'm forced to paddle back out to grovel in waist high crap surrounded by the same kooks who ramble on about useless horse**** on this forum and then disappear every October.
