Any of you FL guys know much about GT Surfline boards? Greg Taylor is a FL shaper, but I have never seen his shapes at any local stores. I found a cheap log and was wondering if it was worth picking up.

Not a good sign if no one has heard of it.

My brother lives in Vero Beach and he bought a 9 ft Greg Taylor from a friend a few years ago. It rides really well and has held up well. I have surfed it in 1-2 foot waves up to head high.

Cheap pop outs from overseas. poorly glassed, fragile, big round rails, poor fin fit. I would advise against the purchase. You get what you pay for. However if you just want something to surf in 1-2 ft, go for it.

Damn, I wonder why there are a few sites talking about Greg shaping boards. Maybe they mean Greg designs them and they are shaped elsewhere.

I think you nailed it. Ive seen a couple guys in the line up with them, and they do ok. Hell, I even have a GT paddle board I picked up for a song to tandem with my 5 year old. Personally, i would not be happy with their log.

Thanks man. That's what I needed to know. I don't want to buy some crappy pop-out, even if it is cheap. I need a reliable log that will last several years.

My brother's board is 10 years old and is not a pop out. Hand made.
