Not one single government program is run efficiently examples include welfare, social security , post office so please explain to me why healthcare will be any different? Say no to socialism and embrace capitalism.

I know this isn't really the place for in-depth policy discussions, but it's worth noting that Obamacare isn't actually socialized medicine. Aside from changing some insurance regulations (like allowing children up to age 26 to be covered under their parents' plan), it created insurance "marketplaces" in each state where private, for-profit insurers (like Aetna and Blue Cross) can offer their plans for individuals to choose from. Obamacare also created a "mandate" that everyone buy at least a basic insurance plan (either through their work or if that's not an option their local "marketplace") and those who still choose not to get covered have to pay a tax penalty.

These ideas actually came from conservative/Republican/free-marketers back in the 90s, but they won't talk about now because they can't see past their own hatred for Obama.

So you that are opposed think it's ok for the insurance cos to keep people off due to preexisting condition and to kick people off due to life time limit? Obama care has it's problems but it's better than what's going on. The "fine" for the mandate is 90 bucks a year. In Va, if you don't get car insurance, you pay an uninsured motorist fee. All this bullschitt about the problems already caused by Ocare, is false because today is the first day.

billabongmoney - right on the money with that statement... this is going to be another gov shlt show. this is compounded due to the condition of the economy to begin with. all they needed to do was remove regulations on state-to-state healthcare insurance markets (increase competition) and cost would be driven down to the consumer. as with anything, increased competition leads to a better value for the consumer theyre competing for. this country is in deep deep financial trouble.

This is mostly true, however prices *should* also go down as participation increases--mainly greater participation by younger, healthy people.

One thing they didn't touch that they should have is states holding power over mandating what's in insurance plans. NC doesn't have much of a problem in that regard, but NY and NJ are horrendous--that's pretty much the main reason why insurance is so high in those states.

And don't get me wrong, I'm mostly for states holding rights to govern their citizens but this is a case where cronyism has made the system a complete clusterphvk.

WTF? My rates are going UP by 1600 per year. My neighbor who has 4 kids said his is going up by 1250 per year. I have only talked to one person ( recent college grad/single) who has said his rates are less. Everyone else is saying it is more.

Its a little un-nerving the government now owning our bodies...on the flipside it has worked well in Europe. My ex-wife was a limey and nothing but good to say about their healthcare over there.

My rates are the same. If yours are increasing, I would start questioning WTF your company is up to.

Can we use alternative treatments like plant extracts and oils, acupuncture, eating real food, aroma therapy, massage therapy, meditation, yoga etc? these are tools of healthcare

big pharma, un-need surgeries, specialists, etc, these are tools of SICK CARE

odds are if you dont like antibiotics and vaccines, you will HATE obamacare

some do some don't, however, you can be penalized (I think) if you dont follow the protocol or regimen they prescribe
there is bad science (particularly vaccines) that dictate policy as it is gift to vaccine producers and big pharma

will we be forced to partake in things we dont like in order to 'stay covered'?

the double negatives in your sentence confuse me as to what you are asking. I will try and answer: I think that Obama care will have requirements I dont think are in my best interest. and I get it. the V word makes the tinfoil hat crew come out

i was being sarcastic about the obamacare thing. i work in healthcare IT and we have been seeing directives from the feds for a few years now that point to rationing. the whole goal is to minimize care.
