exactly, i saw one in kcoast and its super thin but everyone says firewires float better than normal boards. looks badass and super fun its just an expensive experiment @ about 900 bucks.

i also heard that firewires have had flex issues. the longboards are called "flexflights" and im not sure how they are going to feel if are, not something i would think would be a good thing but who knows

You'll feel pretty lousy though when the 1st half decent size lip crashes down on one and snaps it in half. Simple engineering, I was a structural engineer in another life, will tell you that a thinner board is weaker than a thicker one, especially on a longboard. The strength of the material is secondary to the thickness.:(

I am actually going to be picking up a 9'o Firewire Longboard after I toke it for a test drive. I previously rode a Walden Magic Three Phase Epoxy that snapped in two and there are DISTINCT differences between the two boards. Lets start out with the obvious, weight. The thing might weight as much as a 6'8" poly board that I have and it can get a little skethcy when offshores start to howl. The stringers are on the outside and it truely gives the most flex out of anything I have ever felt. The overall width was close to 23 which is PLENTY wide for a log but the rails seemed to be a bit soft which let rail to rail transitions occur easily but I couldnt get a good "carve" feel out of the log. The rocker on the board is pretty intense. Dont expect to just paddle at the last second to get enough speed to pop into something early, even though the lightweight helps the situation it is something to get used to. The lognboard is not designed with the intention of noseriding. There is decreased volume in the nose and little can be done on the nose except maybe 5 over. Down the line this thing MOVES....it is TRUELY a performance longbaord and it not really intended for the gutless surf NJ has a good portion of the year. You need something with I would say atleast thigh high to move this board. Hands down though...its a sick log for performance. If you are really interested in them Firewire sells cosmetic blemish models on there website for deep discounts so it might be worth checking out because even with frieght it will beat your shops price.
