I don't trust anything not found in saline solution. No taste, no burning the nostrils, no glaucomic haze on the eyeballs after a few good duck dives. I'd be leery of all that. I bet you don't even get surfer's ear as easily in fresh water. Oh yeah, forgot...no waste runoff, no kelp, no jellyfish, no sharks, no GMOs, no refrigerators, no tires, no syringes. Basically sounds like a "party" I've got no interest in being at. You think you're B.A. because you charge in waters that have goose droppings? You're not special, we have those too. Seriously...think about it...a message in a bottle...from Terrace Bay, Ontario. That's just dumb!!! Really, though...pretty cool that stoke is all around. Even inland. Here we are pissing and moaning about 4 months of no stoke that are now behind us, yet you birds are relegated to the State of Middle America AND devoid of waves. You are better men than we coastal longshoremen.
ryan, man, I'm glad that you are so stoked, but I gave up on your video after 9 minutes of driving and eating fast food. Did you make it 31 minutes for a reason? Like, what DIDN'T make the cut?
much respect for their dedication. cool to see that guy at the end with the "southepointe" maui shaped boards.. i have one of those in the quiver
This is another rare occasion lee and I see eye to eye. If I watch the whole film, will I see any rest area action or you guys taking dumps? I can go without that so let me know the time stamps of those events to avoid. Otherwise, everyone and their braddah here knows no one respects and applauds stoke more than I!!
That's crazy.... didn't realize the waves got that good in the lake?! I always thought it maybe maxed out at about a foot or two. The vid is a bit crazy long but about the 15:00 mark they start surfing. Up until that point I thought I was going to see Clark Griswold...
Way to go boys. Should ya have stopped in Marquette north and mid bay very similar during a storm. Oscoda sand bars a good area when storming. Makes me want to go back to my old college. Damn the water is cold but waves tastey.
october and they're already wearing 5/4s with booties gloves and hood...that and you get probably one day of cloudy, cold, onshore, ridable surf after every storm...until the whole lake turns to a skating rink
I get it now. Some of these "idiots" here in EMass who are already gloved, hooded, and booted while it's still seasonable in the 60s (air and sea) are just lakers. I say it all the time...we persecute what we don't understand. Now that I've got perspective on these chargers with MVsurfer Syndrome, I'll empathize with them rather than want to tear them a new one in front of the wahines in the lineup.
Nice Bro! I enjoyed it! Brings back memories of surf/road trips... not to mention the fresh water!!! Thanks!!!
Good stuff Ryan, didn't have much time to watch the whole thing but I saw some of the wave footage, looked fun, keep up the good work on the videos, don't worry about the criticism of others who have no footage of their own. You're right about the rawness of that place, a complete change of scenery for sure, a rare gem i'd say. How often does it get like that? Is that normal or far and few between?
I met a guy from Lake Superior recently here in Maine who builds his own boards. He was in Maine for a weekend surf trip. Cool dude. He was telling me that it gets pretty epic on the lakes. I didn't really believe that it got that big but that's pretty solid looking. Cool video man.
looked fun, glad my addiction isn't subject to the inconsistent whims. How often does it get like this?
