Brady will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER win another super bowl EVER again! Yep, I said it. and it felt good. I'm so sure of it that I will print out this entire thread and eat it if he does...yep all 45+ pages. The Patriots era is over, the once dynasty will get crushed and 5hitted out in the playoffs if they make it. I can't wait to witness it. BTW - the last game was a gift. Obvious holding on the last play of the game! remember you heard it here first. with that being said, bring on the hate...
Superbowl 2014 Tom Brady and his coach are cheaters whose championships and records will forever be tainted. Brady probably married his wife because she is a cheater too; i.e. team spying and plastic surgery. I wouldn't be surprised if he is roiding also. These guys get all kinds of injections, of who knows what.... maybe it's to shield their valuable bodies against the GMO's and chemtrails. Peyton and the neck injury, that was probably helped along by roids also. Very exciting to see what Andy Reid is capable of without the distraction of cheesesteaks. Seahawks look dangerous and could make a deep run. Falcons lost to the Jersey Juggalo Circus, and Houston is imploding also... SO WHO WILL IT BE? Chiefs and Saints? Broncos - Niners? All I want to see this year is SNOW at the superbowl. And two teams who can play in it. Even if one is the New England Cheatriots. Maybe the Giants will win out to the Bowl and beat them with homefield advantage? If it's snowing during the 2014 Niners vs. Cheatriots bowl, and it's also chest high and clean, what do you do? For the record, bro-brahs can be just as bad as hipsters. Same job, different uniform. By the looks of it Sunday, Brady is the latter. Doug, sorry to hear about your dog. I think a lot of the dudes on here sympathize with that situation... good luck man.
HA. The spygate thing has been the most outrageously blown out of proportion "scandal" in recent sports history. Never mind the fact that multiple NFL coaches (Herm Edwards, Marty Schottenheimer) have admitted to doing the same thing (or being aware of members of their staffs and/or opponents staffs doing it) for years, which is why so many teams have two coaches call plays (one flashing dummy signals), but filming signals isn't even explicitly against any NFL rule. Educate yourself: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...pygate-punishing-success-and-promoting-parity (kind of long article making too much of a point on the NFL punishing success, but pretty well covers the rule interpretations utilized in the spygate punishments). Coaches can stare at the other teams coaches anyway. You don't think a pencil and pen are utilized by NFL staffers? Pretty easy to note down signals in a variety of ways. And it kills me how in the meantime people are already singing the Sean Payton redemption song ....let's remember that he was aware of a pay-for-play program which rewarded injuring opponents, didn't stop the program, was then told by the league and his owner to stop it, still didn't stop it, and finally got nailed for it. But he's really overcome the adversity and is a shining model of an NFL coach now? Granted, I'm a Patriots fan, so you will likely assume this is just homer-ism (and I'm sure somewhere at the root of it, it is), but when I really and truly try to think objectively about football, or talk to people who are not pats fans but legitimately understand the game, the conclusion is the same....is Belichick stupid for continuing to film after warnings that the way he was doing it was frowned upon by the league? Yes. Did the patriots win all those games and super bowls because of their oh-so-cleverly aimed cameras? Get out of here. Just a weak excuse to knock down a team that everyone hates now....remember when they were massive underdogs, beat the Rams and were the feel-good story of the sporting world? Easy to hate success, I guess
Dude has been as metro as it gets for years. We knew that coming in. Are we really still talking about his outlandish and well-known fashion-forwardness instead of these unbelievable on-field achievements? Dude wore male Uggs years ago and we are talking about sweaters still now. Let our mothers, sisters, aunts, and wahine lineup talk about such things while we deal with the football end of things. Was there holding on all 8 plays of the 70 yard drive in just over a minute? There's holding on every pass play in the league braddah. It's a matter of who get's called for it or not. Same for contact off the line between WR/DB and also the push off when the ball is arriving in that matchup. Too many blown calls in all of the NFL year in and out to debate them. Kind of a fact of life we have to accept and trust that they'll be a wash in the end. I suppose the monsoon on the final drive in Cincy was also a gift. You know, the torrential downpour that went the whole duration of that drive and then immediately ceased at the end of the drive. That one.
England as in UK and "your team" being Manchester United? Honestly brah, it took an act of God and near natural disaster from us being undefeated now. We are knocking off previously undefeated teams when we've had, in 6 games, more starters go down with injuries than starters who've remained healthy. We lost 4 in that game alone. Several are done for the whole year. Our offensive prowess over the years has been heavily dependent on the double-tight offense. Well, we came into the year without either of our star/standout TE's. We've lost our top veteran leader DL for good and our top CB is day to day. Our standout offensive backfield hasn't been intact since week 1 and for some games all of them were out. We aren't even talking about free agency departures from last year, which were huge. This team faces adversity each week that is multiples beyond what any other team faces in total and the setbacks are now expected to be numerous each week. Yet again, this team is 5-1 and just beat a 5-0 team. How would you describe the "power" of a franchise that has shown for years a team concept and resilience that is likely unrivaled by any other team in major sports history? ESPN can come up with any list of rankings they want. This team may very well be playing in NYC this winter and there's nothing in their environment that seems to be able to change that. Deal with it. Whoever your team is, they'd crumble in the face if one-third of the adversity the Pats have faced this year alone.
If you're looking for me to say they're the best team on paper and best team in NFL after 6 games, well championships aren't won on paper. I don't care who's "ranked" highest (aka man-made hype) at any point. I care about winning the last game, and it being later than the 16th game. That game is almost 4 months away and you don't wear Best NFL Team on Columbus Day jewelry into the HOF so that's a fruitless debate. This is the experienced athlete in me speaking, not the football fan. Do you guys know what it's like for your team to sustain major, repeated setbacks and injuries and NOT be decimated as a result? Well, it's an empowering experience following a movement like that. For example, as much as I love my Falcons, I'm not betting the farm on them without Jackson and Jones. A ton of talent remains, but their success will largely be affected. Smitty is a very good coach as well and I'm glad they have him. The difference between the Patriots and other teams in the league in recent years, and the reason I never have one bit of anxiety with them, is that when they lose you know why they've lost. It's clear what could've been done better and will be done better next time. When teams like the 5-0 Saints who've outplayed the Pats for the first 58:57 of the game end up losing, they're shocked, despondent, and really lack clear understanding of how that just happened. Ask the 2001 Rams, since it all started back then against them. Peyton won't be able to explain it any easier. If they aren't the best team in the NFL right now, then who's gonna beat them next? Better yet, who's gonna beat them when Brady dials it in fit complete games again rather than just some or most drives? Who's gonna beat them when other other half of the lineup returns healthy and ready to play? Next to nobody is beating them today, brah. So even if those guys don't come back and we lose more to injuries, how's an opponent gonna match up with the mystical life force of the best team concept and locker room ever in pro sports? We don't win it every year. But every year, we very well can win it. That's why it's so great to follow this team.
FYI cackedinri, I love the Raiders. They're in my top 5 favorite teams and always have been. I laugh when people say they hate them. Even in the rough years, they still got the aura. If they had a legit signal-caller the last few decades things may have been different. BTW...Al is from Brockton, MA. A hardass town. He made them Boxers proud.
Power rankings? I put the Pats somewhere in the 4-6 range right now. Denver is clearly an offensive juggernaut. Kansas City is legit. I think Seattle is pretty damn good. New Orleans is obviously a good team, so is Indy. I think as it stands, Pats, Saints, and Colts are all right in that 4-6 bunch. Pats injuries on the D side are adding up though. Losing mayo for the year is straight devastating. Best player on our defense, and the leader on the field. Now if Talib can't go we're down our top 3 defensive players....this concerns me. And Emass, no way did New Orleans outplay the Pats in the first half of the game. Pats were running down their throat with Ridley. They were up 17-7 at half. The Saints only had one drive in the first half that was longer than 35 yards. Second half, pats got rocked until the Saints failed repeatedly to get a first down....huge sequence by a banged-up defense at the end of the game. I wonder if putting your top corner (i.e. Talib) on Jimmy Graham will be the new blueprint to at least containing the physical freak that is Graham? I would have thought the size advantage would have been too much to overcome but Talib (and then Arrington) did a pretty damn good job denying him the ball. What good is the added size of a linebacker on Graham if they can't keep up?
Man, I do love my football and my Patriots, but really, I just let them play and I enjoy watching. I don't break it down too much. They've been getting hurt and having weird things happen for so many years, I've just learned to trust because they're always in it. Even 2 of the last 3 years when they were the best AFC team but blew it, I'm ok with it because we are in the SB every few years and winning AFC East every damn year. Look at the Giants. Heroes to zeroes. Feel blessed we never have to sustain such an abrupt fall from grace. We are always in the mix and I have full faith in this team.
No I was only talking about the last play, if the refs called it like they should have, the patriots would have lost. point blank it was a gift. I don't think there is holding on every single play, a lot of them yes, and i agree it's all a matter of who gets called. But, comon that hold was noticable in a huge way...refs just turned their heads just like Belichick likes. NFL needs to do a better job getting this resolved. And for a game winning play it should have been absolutely reviewed. The Patriots record is actually better then they are. And i'm a firm believer that that will show come playoff season.
You wanted them to review the final play and then call a penalty based on their review? Learn the rules. If you'd like to blame that last play on someone, blame in on Jabari Greer for losing his man in the endzone, or the safety for leaving a WR in single coverage in the endzone, on a play that HAD to be thrown to the endzone. Poor defensive execution. There are missed calls in every NFL game. In the grand scheme of missed calls, that is a pretty minor hold. Screenshots don't tell the story. Watch the play.
You and everyone else knows what happened....a hold that was not called ends the game unfairly. Do you really think that NE is the best team?? Thanks for the laugh! What happens when my underachieving JETS win this week? Don't even say it can't happen, cause it can...
learn the rules? lmao... If you would have read my post instead of attacking it you would have seen I said the NFL needs to fix this and that a final game winning play like in this game should be reviewed. If this play was reviewed the Pats would have lost. I never said it was a rule, I simply said it should be. Regardless of who lost cover, there was a hold that should have ended the game in a loss. The only one's responsible for there win was the refs. that is a minor hold?? Look at homeboy...he basically has a rear naked choke hold going on there.
Brah, I said that I could give two RoyCharles asses filled with DosXX's ass sand as to who the "best team in week 7" is. It's gonna be a fun season to watch and follow, as always. Not just for the Pats but the league that's full of surprises this year. That snapshot you showed was quite interesting though I'd have to see the whole play on film to draw a conclusion. Then again, NEF said it right when each game is full of blown calls so it's tough to point the finger at one. Did you see the Arizona St. vs. Wisconsin game's ending earlier this year? Crazier happens all the time. With 9 man crews backed by 39 man crews in the booth and behind the scenes. You know what an NFL ref makes in perks alone? Their wives fly first class with them. The Jets are in the toilet brah. But it's always fun for our two teams to play. Always heated. I'm a Rex fan and I've said it before. Any guy who keeps at it after the schitt he's taken off the field from the media of non-football stuff is ok in my book. Then he won me over further in That's My Boy with the cameo as the Pats Superfan. I give that man props. But yeah, we are gonna drop you guys for the second time this season. And if we don't, we will be playing in January while you aren't. No other team would still be standing let alone winning when they're on their 112th player in week 7. Look at what's going down in Houston. They're booing their field general off the field when he's wounded.
I'm going to the Jets-Pats game Sunday.....so stoked. Hoping the constant beer shower I'm sure to receive in my pats jersey doesn't make me catch a cold. And I definitely don't think penalties (or non-penalties) should be reviewable. That will just slow the game down an absurd amount and create tons of controversy. Human element is present in every sport. Also, saying the only ones responsible for the win was the refs is lunacy. If New Orleans doesn't throw on 3rd down, there's no time left on the clock there. If they tackle Dobson inbounds, there's no time left on the clock there. Game's 60 minutes long for a reason.
Good for you braddahmang. Should be a fun one. I'm trying to catch Chargers-Broncos while I'm in SD in a few weeks. If so, I will wear Welker Pats jerz. He said she said blah blah blah. Pics or it didn't happen. Vines or it didn't happen. Stat book is the law.
