I was blessed with a stomach bug of some sort from Long Beach, NY from my Saturday session. Water had lots of skim foam floating on the surface, plus it was a bit windy... so I'm guessing I inhaled the vapor and spray

No fever or vomiting like last year's sickness... but this one has given me a serious abdominal cramp/pain

My friends that were out with me had no problems... just curious if anyone else got ill
I didn't get sick but did notice the water had a bit of stank on Friday. I also noticed the washed up sea weed on the beach had a swarm of bugs around it like flys on dog poo. This could be normal. This swell was my first time back to long beach since spring since I try to avoid it in the summer due to crowds, but I don't ever remember seeing or smelling what I did.
here ya go... 2.2 Billion gallons of raw sewage post Sandy. Still goes partial discharge after heavy rains.
Gotta love it! It won't be too much longer and the water will be too polluted to even go near let alone in. Have you all been watching the news? Down here in Florida several people have died and a bunch have gotten severely sick from being in the water. Some kind of deadly organism from polluted water. One guy get bit by a crab while crabbing and the wound got the bacteria water in it and the guy died in like less than two days! Guys check this out if you have a chance.... http://www.foxnews.com/health/2013/10/11/31-in-florida-infected-by-bacteria-in-salt-water/
It's scary stuff for sure, cut my feet up on my fin on Saturday, kept surfing for hours, so far so good. It says in the article that it mostly affects those with compromised immune systems, so hopefully i'm good to go.
No sickness yet, but I did get a strange rash on my thighs...seems like some type of sea lice thing. Not itchy just red bumps, has happened before this time of the year after longer sessions with a suit on. I was in the Lido area Sat and Sun morning. Surf was real fun, totally worth it.
