I am about ready to buy some new fins cause i have grown out of my old ones. I want to know whether it is worth the extra 20 buck for makapuu's or should i just go with hydros or something cheaper.
+1 on the hyrdos, pretty much all I've been using these days are my tech 2s. Oddly enough have the X fins too, which I like, but the hydros are more comfortable and have a bit more thrust.
You'll get a bit more thrust but less comfort. But as we all know, one of the SI 4 Noble Truths...to it's their own.
I got a new (winter XL) pair of black/yellow makapuus and I was shocked at how soft the rubber is -- WAY softer than my blue/yellow size L ones. Almost disappointingly soft, like even the hard side-ridges bend pretty easily at the black part.
Churchill Slashers I've got a pair of medium-large (size 9-11) Churchill Slashers if you are interested. Pretty nice fins with a soft pocket and stiff blades. Only used 6-8 times, I used them for kneeboarding a couple of quad fish hybrids I have. I'll let them go for $50, and I'll throw in the fin leashes and free shipping. I prefer PayPal. If you don't have PP, send me a PM and maybe we can work something out.
I have the Pods. love em. very comfortable, does the trick. http://www.atlanticbodyboards.com/pod-pf2-fins.html
have used Makapuus since the 80's so i figure it's time for a change, so i tried Kicks. best move ever...
