I was one of the 7% in VA. Most of the like minded folks that I talked to said they ended up voting Dem. to ensure that the Cooch wasn't able to implement any weird Jesus sh*t (like outlaw CONSENTUAL oral and anal sex, remove the nipple from our 300 year old state crest or go defcon5 over abortion and birth control). For what it's worth McAuliffe is a shady, sneaky crook, and Sarvis looks like he ran his campaign from the basement of his grandmothers house in between vaporizer hits. /rant over

Libertarians don't oppose taxation in all forms. That is incredibly false. Most prefer a use/sales tax approach though instead of the convoluted graduated income tax we have today.

I agree. I clarified my statement in a later post that was meant to attract attention from liberal types. They seem to not find it difficult to grant tax breaks for film, bc it's "green" and "cool" or some other bullsh$t.

So there were no libraries or schools or police etc. prior to 1913? Man I'll have to go back and re-read all my history if that's the case. Oh and it isn't a "contract" if it's not entered into voluntarily with a signature. Just ask any lawyer.

I hold firm to my initial ramblings about how strange it is that people will support tax incentives for film jobs (bc it's cool) but won't allow themselves to make the next step for advocating across the board tax cuts for all entities in society so they will have more money to spend and hire people and start businesses. The alternative is trying to "create" jobs in the "public sector"..but just how many drug cops and IRS agents does one land mass need??

If more people paid attention to politics and got involved (whether the surf was flat or not) this thread wouldn't seem strange or out of place.

Libertarians are pro freedom. The enemy freedom is coercion. Taxation is a form of coercion. Tax incentives offered to business'/individuals in an extension of that.

The Libertarian Platform calls for abolishing the IRS and eliminating the income tax. There is no mention of alternatives on how to fund the gov't.

sounds like you got it cruiser...I for one don't think it's important how "we" "fund the government" in the absence of an income tax or the IRS, these instruments of force and redistribution just need to go away like all other forms of coercion have gone away in the past...slavery for instance.
It's a moral dilemma not a practical one. You heard the same excuses for keeping slavery going as you hear for keeping our form or coercive govt going... "oh who will pick the cotton if you free the slaves??" became "who will pave the roads without govts??"

plus we're not funding anything at the moment. We borrow or print counterfeit $$ to fund government. This is gonna end real bad.

I just scrolled all the way to the end, only to ask please that you take your sickness rants and political garble off of this site. I come here to look at surf forecasts and read related threads. I get confused and my brain slows down to a crawl when I accidentally start reading your threads with big political words I cannot wrap my mind around. Plus, this does not affect my everyday life, or the waves I ride, or lackthereof. Don't you have a wife you can talk about this sheet with? just don't waste my time reading, which in turn causes me to waste more time telling you how I feel, regardless of if you care or not.

macrgregor smith then do the right thing, jump head first into the soylent green dumpster, please.....sometimes the adults like to talk and I understand its difficult for the kids to get into it, so go play playstation and then jump in the dumpster

This is actually worth talking about as it shows where people's heads are at. I see where yours is at......if you think governance does not affect your daily life you obviously aren't thinking

taxes alone, imagining keeping an additional 15-30% of your income, but that doesnt 'affect your everyday life'

you are a perfect sheep to be manipulated and milked (taxed)

Thanks for taking the time to show that you have nothing to add to any discussion other than those discussions where use of the term "douche bags" gets you some points with the neanderthal crowd. You may not know this but adults use this site too. Besides "look, listen and learn" is good advice for life outside of the lineup too...

    well said BBG

    its like this:

    'shhhhh...the adults are talking'

and surfing form? you can learn that online?

    how about this for form:
keep your face on the face and keep your shoulders facing out of the tube when getting slotted
turn your head the way you wanna go when turning

    and the last one

keep quiet when you dont understand what is going on so you can learn

I mean what else are we supposed to post on the forum?...just try and ask a question about a "secret break" or something and people shut you down (for many damn good reasons all of which I support).

Sometimes politics comes up...even on a surfing site....
I mean where does this Dave Rastovich guy get off being all political and stuff? What does politics have to do with the ocean? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6xy95z8QoI

    Sea bed mining anyone? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3eqPV9o7b0

If there's room for an NFL thread there's room for these topics. Also, certainly beats, hi let's chat about surf spots. No spot naming, no landmarks, is that so f**king hard?

1913 instituted the income tax along with the Fed Reserve, this tax is not legal, the gvt gets (had gotten) funding from constitutional taxes based on use, I am wondering if you didnt pay attention in high school civics class? I know you are old enough to have had this course, although today they do not offer it in high schools

notice how after the fed was established and they started collecting money that war erupted world wide. You cant start and maintain wars without a printing press of fake money and stealing from the population

    bingo mon frere

Income taxes are traditionally enacted during times of war (the first was enacted under Lincoln during the Civil war) which is why our income tax is otherwise known as the war tax.

Our government went rogue in 1913 and never has looked back once...no one seems to know or care very much about that or the many other times we've gone directly against our only charter..the constitution. Now we have the NDAA, Patriot Act, the ACA, HR 347... most of our civil protections are gone. --crickets--

it was rogue off the bat save for Andrew Jackson's tenure at the helm

read about the whiskey rebellion, money power was salivating for the US and making moves before the revolutionary war vets even made it home from the battlefield
