http://www.vanstriplecrownofsurfing.com/reefhawaiianpro2013/live Nice swell to start the event and lots of big names from the WCT in the running for the Triple Crown this year--ought to be good! ...and the day after I get back from PR to the earliest snow ever recorded in Wilmington.
As a beginner/learner I love watching live events / unedited recordings of live events because I feel like you learn a lot more about wave sense from them; i.e. you get to see what waves guys will paddle for, what waves they won't, how they change their position in the lineup relative to the sets coming in, etc. You also get to see them in whatever random / not the best conditions the contest happens to occur in... the zoomed-out view lets you see the sets rolling in, etc. As opposed to edited surf/bodyboard videos where you only see the 30 seconds that someone is actually on a perfect/awesome wave; you never get to see what the other n hours(days? weeks? months?) of waiting/closeouts/wrong waves/etc looked like that it took to get that sick shot...
He gets a bye until the final. No reason wasting time having him surf heats. Everyone knows he's going to win, so they just put him in the final and let everyone else battle for 2nd place
that makes sense.... I mean at least now he gets to kick back on the beach with his smokin hot hindu's.
