    Anyone know if the predictions for Holden are usually pretty accurate. Thinking about checking it out sunday or monday since its such a short drive from wilmington.

    holden, sunset beach

    In my experience, Sunset Beach breaks more consistently with smaller waves. Try the pier or the inlet (Ocean Isle side).

    Check the camera before you go down there (google: holden surf report). Waves RARELY get bigger than waist high. best on SW wind swells with N/ NE winds. also the place is very tide sensitive. Best to get it on an incoming tide, but gets too deep at high tide. For some swells the place works, but it is difficult to catch good.
