Awesome thread.. Ive always wanted to surf a solid wood board. What did you seal your board with? Have you ever tried tung oil?

    Barry,
I see one of your boards is described as an epoxy / poly combo. I'm interested if this means you did an epoxy lamination with a poly hot coat.

I've glassed a couple of boards that way myself, and worry about bonding of the hot coat to the glass (during use - flexing, pressure dings etc). Other than trying to scuff up the surface of the laminated board a bit prior to hotcoating, I took no real precautions. I haven't noticed any issues to speak of.

All my wood boards are glassed traditionally with either Poly or epoxy. Oil only works on hardwoods. Poly hot coats only work if surface is really scuffed up. Then, it is not a guarantee they wont separate. They are two different resins. No real chemical bond. Once it chips, it just spreads badly. Good luck. Hope it don't happen to you. The board you described is a process I have been working on. Yes both resins just applied in a special process. Mums the word on that one.

Been busy starting some new projects. Aipa/Stinger tribute board for the Boardroom Surfboard Show in May. Yet another Dissect series board. 5' 6" x 21.5" Concave deck with beveled rail, Twin-fin glass-on. High density colored rail foam.
    And a stringerless multi-foam glue-up.
    Also a curved Dissect board.
